1 For freedom, Christ set us free. Stand firm, then, and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery. 2 Take note! I, Paul, am telling you that if you get yourselves circumcised, Christ will not benefit you at all. 3 Again I testify to every man who gets himself circumcised that he is obligated to do the entire law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law are alienated from Christ; you have fallen from grace. 5 For we eagerly await through the Spirit, by faith, the hope of righteousness. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith working through love.

Jesus died to set us free from the yoke of slavery.

If free from the heavy yoke of the law why in the world would we go back to it?

Legalism invalidates the work of Christ on the cross.

Christ becomes no value to you if you live by works and not grace
You are not fully trusting Jesus if you result to works because you are adding to it - this is case where addition actually subtracts from the gift.
The completed work of Jesus is more than sufficient for salvation.

The yoke of legalism prevents you from wearing the robes of grace.

If you return to the confines of the law even for a single aspect then you are bound to all of it - there is no partial legalism.
We have security in our salvation because our faith is in Jesus Christ and we are eagerly awaiting His righteousness.
You cannot be secure in your salvation if it is dependent on whether you have done enough (here’s a hint… you haven’t and you can’t)
In Matthew’s gospel Jesus encourages us to trade one yoke for another - Matthew 11:28–30 “28 “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.””
The burden Jesus is talking about from those religious rituals that provide no peace but the yoke of Jesus is made up of 3 parts…
Faith, Hope and Love - the gifts of God in our lives through the Holy Spirit.
We have been saved by Jesus’ work on the cross, we are saved day by day as the Spirit works within us to bring about righteousness… by grace.

We must stand firm in the grace of Christ and break the yoke of legalism.

Legalism promises righteousness but produces slavery.
Grace gives freedom because Jesus has already done the work.
We must refuse to return to chains disguised as religion.
A coach noticed one of his runners kept slowing down during races. This issues wasn’t fatigue or lack of skill - the reason was that he kept glancing at the scoreboard to see his pace.
The coach pulled him aside: “Run free. Don’t run for the scoreboard. Run for the finish.” The runner changed his focus, and his entire race transformed.
Legalism runs for the scoreboard constantly checking spiritual performance. Grace runs for the Savior - trusting His finished work.
The yoke is broken when we stop performing for approval and start living from acceptance.
