    Opening:

    There are moments in history when God whispers — and moments when He thunders. Moments when His hand is subtle, and moments when His hand shakes nations.
    Illustration: Pop Quiz It’s like when a teacher announces a “pop quiz.” Nobody knows the exact moment, but everyone knows it’s coming. And there’s always that one kid who says, “I knew it! I could feel it in my spirit!” No, he didn’t — he just didn’t study.
    Scripture tells us that Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for failing to discern the signs of His first coming. Yet, He expects His people to discern the signs of His second.

    The Scriptures show us that the end of the age won’t arrive quietly. It will come with birth pains, with global trembling, with deception rising like a fog, and with the Dragon — Satan himself — raging as his time grows short.

    Yet, in the midst of all of this, God’s people are called not to panic, not to speculate, but to stand firm, to discern, and to trust the God who has already written the final chapter.
    Today we look at five passages that anchor us in truth, clarity, and hope. They remind us that God is sovereign over history, sovereign over nations, sovereign over prophecy, and sovereign over the very moment His Son returns. They remind us that the Dragon does not write the story — God does. And they remind us that the people of God must be awake, discerning, and ready.
    Let’s begin with the words of Jesus in Matthew 24:36

    36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
    This verse is not meant to silence prophecy. It is meant to silence date‑setting. It is meant to silence the arrogance of human speculation. It is meant to remind us that while we cannot know the day, we are commanded to know the season. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for failing to discern the signs of His first coming. He expects His people to discern the signs of His second coming.
    Pastor Andy Woods of Sugar Land Bible Church and president of Chafer Theological Seminary often says: “Prophecy is not given to satisfy curiosity, but to motivate holiness.”
    That is exactly what Jesus is doing here. He is not shutting down watchfulness — He is commanding it. He is not discouraging discernment — He is demanding it. He is telling us that the Father alone knows the exact moment, but He is also telling us that the signs will be visible, global, and unmistakable.

    And that brings us to Isaiah 66:8

    8 Shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
    Isaiah prophesied something humanly impossible: a nation born in a single day. For centuries, scholars wondered what this meant. [ pause ] Then came May 14, 1948 — and Israel was reborn in a moment. A nation born at once. A prophecy fulfilled in our lifetime. A sign Jesus said would matter.
    This is not a small detail. This is not a footnote in history. This is a prophetic earthquake.
    Illustration: U.S. to Disappear for 24 Hours If someone told you, “Tomorrow the United States will disappear and then reappear in 24 hours,” you’d laugh them out of the room. Yet, that’s exactly what Isaiah predicted — and exactly what God did.
    Joke: Skeptic A skeptic once said, “I don’t believe in miracles.” A Jewish man replied, “Then explain Israel. We’ll wait.”
    Israel’s rebirth is God shouting into history: “My Word is true. My plan is unfolding. My Son is coming.”
    Brannon Howse (President & Founder of Worldview Weekend and the WVW Broadcast Network) often emphasizes that the rebirth of Israel is the super‑sign of the end times — the sign that activates the prophetic clock. Without Israel, the end‑time prophecies cannot unfold. Without Israel, the Dragon’s final rebellion cannot take shape. Without Israel, the return of Christ cannot be positioned exactly as Scripture describes.
    Israel’s rebirth is God shouting into history: “My Word is true. My plan is unfolding. My Son is coming.”

    Psalm 102:16 reinforces this:

    16 When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.
    Notice the order: Zion built up → Christ appears. Israel restored → Christ returns.
    This is not symbolic. This is not poetic. This is prophetic sequence. God is telling us that the rebuilding, strengthening, and rising of Israel is a visible countdown to the appearing of Christ in glory.
    Illustration: Future Home of It’s like driving past a construction site with a sign that says, “Future Home of…” Psalm 102:16 is God’s construction sign: “Future Home of the Appearing Glory of Christ.”
    And this leads us to one of the most debated verses in prophecy:

    34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.
    What generation? The generation that sees the fig tree blossom — the generation that sees Israel miraculously reborn. The generation that witnesses the super‑sign. The generation that watches the world align exactly as Scripture foretold.
    Pastor Andy Woods argues that “generation” refers to the generation that sees the beginning of the end‑time signs — not the final events themselves. Brannon Howse emphasizes that this verse is not about date‑setting but about discernment — recognizing that once Israel is reborn, the prophetic timeline is no longer theoretical. It is active.
    The Dragon’s Prophecy — the biblical storyline of Satan’s final rebellion — fits perfectly here. Revelation 12:12 describes a Dragon enraged, a global system rising, deception spreading, nations trembling, and Israel standing at the center of the storm. The Dragon knows the timeline. He knows the signs. He knows the Scriptures. And he knows that the rebirth of Israel means his time is short.
    Joke: I know when... A man once told his pastor, “I know the exact day Jesus is coming back.” The pastor said, “Really? Because Jesus said you don’t.” The man replied, “Well, He didn’t know when He said that.” That’s when the pastor prayed for patience… and maybe a little judgment.
    Illustration: Cornered Animal A cornered animal becomes more aggressive — not because it’s strong, but because it’s desperate. Satan is cornered. Prophecy is unfolding. Israel is restored. The nations are aligning. The church is awakening.
    This is why deception is exploding. This is why nations are shaking. This is why global systems are forming. This is why truth is under attack. This is why the church must be awake.
    And yet, in the middle of all this prophetic intensity, God gives us one of the most peaceful verses in the entire Bible in Psalm 46:10:
    “Be still, and know that I am God.” —Psalm 46:10
    This is not a verse for quiet mornings. This is a verse for global chaos. The whole of Psalm 46 describes nations raging, kingdoms falling, mountains shaking, waters roaring — and in the middle of that storm, God says:
    “Be still.” “Know that I am God.” “I will be exalted among the nations.” “I will be exalted in the earth.”
    This is not passive stillness. This is prophetic confidence. This is the stillness of a soldier who knows the battle is already won. This is the stillness of a believer who knows the Dragon cannot rewrite the story. This is the stillness of a church that knows Christ is coming.
    Illustration: Father & Child in Thunderstorm A child once asked his dad during a thunderstorm, “Are we going to be okay?” The father said, “Son, I’ve lived through storms bigger than this. Sit with me.” Psalm 46:10 is God saying: “Sit with Me. I’ve lived through storms bigger than this.”
    Joke: Stop Panicking Someone once said, “I’m not worried. I’m just concerned in a panicked sort of way.” God says: Stop panicking in a concerned sort of way. Be still.

    Main Teaching

    I. The Dragon Rages Because Prophecy Is Unfolding

    Revelation tells us that Satan — the Dragon — is filled with fury because he knows his time is short. Why is his time short? Because Israel is back in the land. Because the nations are aligning. Because deception is rising. Because the global stage is being set.
    The Dragon’s Prophecy is not fiction — it is Scripture.

    It is the biblical revelation of Satan’s final strategy:
    Deception
    Global control
    Persecution of believers
    Hatred of Israel
    A counterfeit kingdom
    A counterfeit messiah
    A counterfeit peace
    But the Dragon’s Prophecy also reveals his defeat. Christ crushes the Dragon. Christ binds him. Christ reigns. Christ restores. Christ returns in glory.
    The Dragon rages because he knows the signs. The church must stand because we know the Scriptures.

    II. The Signs Are Not Subtle — They Are Global

    Jesus said the end‑time signs would be like birth pains — increasing in frequency and intensity. Isaiah said Israel would be reborn in a moment — in a day.
    Illustration: Birth Pains Birth pains don’t get gentler. They get louder, closer, and more intense. The world is in the labor room. The contractions are increasing.
    Psalm 102 said Zion would be built up before Christ appears. Matthew 24 said the generation that sees these things will not pass away.
    We are not living in the days of speculation. We are living in the days of fulfillment.
    Pastor Andy Woods often reminds us that prophecy is not sensational — it is scriptural. It is not about headlines — it is about the Bible. It is not about fear — it is about hope. It is not about guessing — it is about watching.
    Brannon Howse emphasizes that the greatest danger in the last days is not persecution — it is deception. The Dragon does not begin with violence — he begins with lies. He begins with counterfeit truth. He begins with false unity. He begins with global promises that sound peaceful but lead to bondage.
    The church must be discerning. The church must be anchored. The church must be awake.

    III. The People of God Must Stand Firm

    Psalm 46 tells us that God is our refuge and strength — not governments, not systems, not leaders, not nations.
    Illustration: Cardboard Box in Tornado Sheltering under politics or money is like hiding under a cardboard box during a tornado. That’s not shelter — that’s just recycling.
    Joke: Yelling at the Toaster A man once said, “I don’t need God. I can handle life myself.” Five minutes later he was yelling at his toaster.
    God alone is our refuge. God alone is our strength. God alone is our fortress.
    When nations shake, God stands. When kingdoms fall, God reigns. When the Dragon rages, God laughs. When deception spreads, God speaks. When prophecy unfolds, God is glorified.

    The church must not panic. The church must not speculate. The church must not retreat. The church must not compromise.

    IV. The Return of Christ Is Certain

    Matthew 24:36 reminds us that the Father alone knows the exact moment — but the signs tell us the season. Isaiah 66:8 reminds us that Israel’s rebirth is a prophetic miracle. Psalm 102:16 reminds us that Christ appears when Zion is built up. Matthew 24:34 reminds us that the generation that sees these things will not pass away. Psalm 46:10 reminds us that God is sovereign over every shaking of the nations.
    The Dragon’s Prophecy ends with Christ’s victory. The church’s story ends with Christ’s glory. History ends with Christ’s appearing.
    Illustration: Knowing the Ending It’s like reading a book when you already know the ending. The villain loses. The hero wins. The kingdom is restored.

    This is not the time for fear — it is the time for faith. This is not the time for silence — it is the time for proclamation. This is not the time for retreat — it is the time for readiness.

    Christ is coming. Christ is King. Christ is victorious. Christ is the fulfillment of every prophecy. Christ is the One who crushes the Dragon. Christ is the One who reigns forever.

    V. Be Still — Because God Has Already Written the Ending

    Psalm 46:10 is the anchor of this entire message: “Be still, and know that I am God.”

    Be still — not because the world is calm, but because God is sovereign. Be still — not because the Dragon is weak, but because Christ is stronger. Be still — not because prophecy is confusing, but because prophecy is clear. Be still — not because nations are stable, but because God is unshakable.
    Be still — because God has already written the ending.

    Conclusion: The Day God Speaks Loudest

    Matthew 24:36 tells us the Father knows the moment. Isaiah 66:8 tells us Israel’s rebirth is a sign. Psalm 102:16 tells us Christ appears when Zion rises. Matthew 24:34 tells us the generation that sees these things matters. Psalm 46:10 tells us to be still and trust God.
    Pastor Andy Woods reminds us to watch with discernment. Brannon Howse reminds us to stand against deception. The Dragon’s Prophecy reminds us that Satan rages because Christ is coming.
    And Scripture reminds us that the end of the age is not the triumph of the Dragon — it is the triumph of the Lamb.
    The world is shaking.
    Prophecy is unfolding.
    The Dragon is raging
    Israel is rising.
    The nations are aligning.
    The church is awakening.
    And Christ is coming.
    So be still. Be ready. Be discerning. Be faithful. Be anchored. Be hopeful. Be unshaken.
    Because the God who wrote prophecy is the God who fulfills prophecy — and the God who fulfills prophecy is the God who will soon split the sky.

    Father, In a world that shakes and a generation that trembles, we thank You that Your Word stands firm and Your voice still speaks with power. You have shown us that the signs of the times are not whispers but reminders that Your plan is unfolding exactly as You declared. As nations rage and deception rises, anchor our hearts in the truth that You alone are God.
    Teach us to be still — not passive, but confident — knowing that the Dragon cannot rewrite what You have already finished. Strengthen our discernment, deepen our faith, and steady our steps as we watch for the return of Your Son.
    Lord Jesus, keep us faithful until You appear in glory.
