1 Corinthians 15:54–56 ESV 54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.Jesus gives us the power to Break FreeThe Word: Paul says the "sting of death is sin." Sin is what keeps us "pinned" down. It’s the debt we couldn't pay and the habit we couldn't quit. The Resurrection Power: If Jesus had stayed in the grave, sin would still have a claim on us. But because the tomb is empty, the "sting" is gone. The Conversation: To the person who feels like they’ve messed up too many times: The Resurrection proves that God’s grace is greater than your "grossest" sin. Jesus didn't just die to get you into Heaven; He rose to get the "hell" out of your daily life. You aren't a prisoner to your past anymore. The Win is Yours.Victory Over Shame1 Corinthians 15:57 ESV 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.Jesus gives us the power to Stand TallThe Word: Shame is the internal "crow" that tells you that even if you’re forgiven, you’re still "damaged goods."The Resurrection Power: Look at the Resurrection. Jesus was stripped, mocked, and shamed on Friday. But on Sunday, He rose in Glory. When He rose, He traded our "rags" for His "righteousness."The Conversation: Victory over shame means you don't have to hide from God anymore. Because He lives, you can look God in the eye—not because you’re perfect, but because Jesus is. Stop walking with your head down. The Win is Yours.Victory Over Suffering1 Corinthians 15:55 ESV 55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”Jesus gives us the power to Keep GoingThe Word: "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?" Paul is taunting the greatest enemy we have. The Resurrection Power: We all deal with "Good Fridays"—sickness, grief, and heartbreak that feels like it’s going to take us out. But Easter proves that for the believer, suffering is never the end of the story. It’s just the Saturday between the Cross and the Crown. The Conversation: To the mother grieving a child, or the man fighting a disease: The Resurrection is God’s guarantee that your pain has an expiration date. Your suffering may be real, but it isn't final. The Win is Yours. Our King is ConsistentHebrews 13:8 ESV 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. The Final Point: Now, why can we trust this? In The Wiz, the "Wiz" was a fraud who changed his mind. But our King is consistent. The Truth: We can trust Jesus to give us victory today because He is the "Same yesterday, today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8). He isn't a "hit or miss" Savior. The "Conduit" Logic: As Pastor H.B. Charles Jr. reminds us, if He was the conduit for victory for the saints of old, He is still the conduit for you right now. He hasn't lost His power, and He hasn't changed His mind about loving you. He’s the same Jesus who walked out of the grave, and He’s the same Jesus who is walking into your situation right now.Because Jesus never changes, our victory never runs out! 1 Corinthians 15:54–56ESV
