Psalm 16:7–8 ESV 7 I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. 8 I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.Big Idea: Faith remains steady when we continually seek God's counsel and presence. Our vision is cloudy.. God’s vision is sureOur perspective is tainted…. God’s perspective is perfectFaulty vision = Faulty pathsWe need clarity to properly evaluate asses and execute according to God’s plan for our life. But God’s ways are vastly different from ours. We are not encouraged to seek the course but seek the creator. We are often seeking answers or an end goal.A. CONNECTION BEFORE DIRECTIONTo set something before you means its is your primary focus. It is always with you.The writer does not choose to say:I set my problems before meI set my goals and my future beforeI set the worries about my future before meHe says he set God before him! In a world where many are searching for answers, the believer must realize. “God is the answer.”Matthew 6:28–33 NKJV 28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.We are not to be in pursuit of a solitary solution. We should be in search of a God who is the Universal Solution.B. THE TURN BY TURNWe often speak to those who are seeking God’s face and not seeking his hand. But many times we don’t realize the multiple forms that mindset can show up in. Many times we simply want God to be our GPS….He useful to tell us the turns but we can cut voice of the app down until we need it.Often time we only start listening for God when we are about to hit a critical turn in our lives.Where should I go to schoolWho should I dateWho should I marryWhat job should I selectAnd while I’m sure God delights to hear from us as we acknowledge our need for his direction, He deserves to be more to us than just a utility. Sometimes the direction from God are “Stay Connected to Me!!”Hebrews 11:8 ESV 8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.Abraham was unsure of his destination but He was sure of His God! He didn’t need a map because he had the maker!God is desiring to reveal Himself to us. He wants us close and connected.Psalm say:Psalm 119:105 NKJV 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.As we seek direction, a consistent searching of the word will give us the direction we need. Thy word is lamp unto my feet… Sometimes God’s direction does not let us see down the road. It gives us faith for the next step.Often times we are overwhelmed trying to take in too much at once. We need to develop a level of God dependence the ne thankful and hungry for direction and the next step.Today I am praying for you to have faith for the next step. Don’t give up now! Take One.. more… step…Stay dependent on God!Stay Obedient to God!Don’t go on Auto-pilotYou have not arrived. You have just begun!2 Peter 1:1–3 NKJV 1 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,God has already equipped you to navigate life. The closer you get to Him, The more your knowledge of increases in faithful pursuit of a Christ exalting life, the more direction you receive. We you connect with him, You begin to see things that God is revealing.John 16:13 NKJV 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.In Joshua Chapter 6, God is giving Joshua direction and he defeats the inpenetrible walls of Jericho. In Joshua chapter 7 Joshua is defeated and there is no record of Josua tanking time to hear from God. The bible says he simply sent men to Ai and took their advice.Sometimes the larger battles are not the problem. We lean on God when there is much at stake. We must learn to depend on Him for the smallest detail. We must be dependent on God.Psalm 32:8 NKJV 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.Isaiah 30:21 NKJV 21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.James 1:5 NKJV 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.John 10:27 NKJV 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.Today we ask ourselves:Am I close enough to hear Him?Have I surrendered what I already know?Am I obeying the last thing He told me?Am I seeking God's hand or God's heart?Do I want God's will, or do I want God's approval of my will?John 10:27 NKJV 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.Trust in the Lord with all thine heartConclusion:The most perfect gift we recieve is not the guidance but God himself. As we walk in his presence . We realize:Power Principle: His Presence IS the PresentAs we seeking Him today at this altar, we abandon the anxieties of predicting the future and embrace the privilege of presence as we take the next step….
