    10 Lepers Sunday Am
    Luke 17:11-21
    11 On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as he entered a village, he was met by lepers, who stood at a distance 13 and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” 14 When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. 15 Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; 16 and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. 17 Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? 18 Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19 And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”
    20 Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, 21 nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”
    “between Samaria and Galilee” - Borderlands often became home for people who didn’t fit neatly into either side—the marginalized, the sick, the rejected.
    Season of Between:
    We know that at least one of them was a Samaritan. This is a double whammy!
    The men knew their condition and also knew Jesus to be healer of all!
    “And as they went they were cleansed”
    Healing formula for them was not based on ritual but obedience. What if breakthrough comes when we act on what God says do!
    “This foreigner” -
    Jesus was not labeling the man, he was showing the Jewish audience that He had authority to heal no matter their ethnicity.
    “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well”
    “Rise,”
    Jesus is:
    restoring the man’s dignity,
    lifting him from a posture of humiliation,
    giving him back full personhood within the community.
    “Go your way” means:
    You are free to return home.
    You owe no more ritual steps.
    You have been fully restored.
    This is liberation language.
    “Your faith has made you well”
    (sōzō) means:
    to save,
    to rescue,
    to restore completely,
    to make whole spiritually and physically.
    All ten lepers were physically healed.
    Only one was made whole—in body, soul, identity, and relationship with God.
