- Grab your bibles and turn to Revelation 20; thumb in Daniel 9, 12Before we begin, I’d like to thank many of you for the Christmas cards and goodies you sent Sherri and I. Very thoughtful!As we head into 2026 it is always a time to share about future events. The typical “prophecy update” was talking about the previous year and how it lined up with the last day prophecies. There’s a lot of guessing as to how the end will come. Even though Jesus said “no man knows the day or the hour”.What I have observed over the years is that society is indeed growing cold or cynical with government spending as we discovered that millions of social security benefits were being mailed to people as old as 150-250 years of age! Somebody is cashing in and handing out benefits without the proper channels.Our tax dollars have been going to bogus contracts for decades and last year we discovered government buildings were open, all the lights on, but 95% of the employees were at home. Such lack of oversight has birthed a distrust in the whole system which seems to be designed to break the country’s economy. It’s been a huge mess that has been ignored for years.Regardless, the stage is obviously being set for a one world government, a single currency and one world leader.But something major has to happen to implode the America and cause the world to turn to one man. Just a matter of time. America isn’t mentioned in bible prophecy as a nation of power. The scripture is silent on the west as we know it in bible prophecy.This is where prayer for our country, focusing on God’s word and serving one another is key to our sanity! Breaking news is happening daily!! And we have to remain diligent by fighting the good fight, finishing well and keeping the faith!!In reality, this is our moment as Christians to “dig in”, to keep serving, sharing, praying and caring for one another. We must avoid the distractions meant to keep our eyes on man - the Psalmist said the Lord will help us.
Psalm 55:22 LSB Cast your burden upon Yahweh and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.Now in all those prophecy updates I heard in the last 30 years I never heard much teaching about the millennial kingdom when we return with Jesus in Rev 19.But just like when we plan on moving to a new location, we study the area first before we make a decision. Well Saints, one day we will be moving to a new location in the Spirit, our dwelling will be in the Father’s house, with many rooms, the mortgage paid, and no property taxes!We believe that the church will being taken up for a seven year honeymoon with Christ our bridegroom. And the purpose of the tribulation is to shake up the nations, wake up Israel and make up the millennial kingdom. As much as I think today’s church deserves to go through tribulation we have to remember that salvation is by grace or undeserved favor. But everyone has their view on this and I respect that.Honestly, I think we’d be in the way if we were here. After all, the tribulation period is called “the Day of the Lord, the 70th week of Daniel”. ANd the prophet Jeremiah foretoldJeremiah 30:7 LSB ‘Alas! For that day is great, there is none like it; and it is the time of Jacob’s distress or trouble, but he will be saved from it.People will often reason, the word rapture isn’t found in the OT but there’s no mention of the church either! So does that mean if the church isn’t mentioned in the OT that we don’t exist? Of course not! Like the rapture, the church was a mystery and so is the salvation of Israel! Paul wrote:Romans 11:25–27 LSB For I do not want you, brothers, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.” “And this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.”It’s true many Jews are getting saved but mainly in America. Yet Zech 13 promises the nation will recognize Yeshua as their Messiah when He returns to earth.First of all, where do we get this idea of a millennial kingdom?It is mentioned five times in Rev 20:1-6 - let’s lookRevelation 20:1–6 LSB the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan is bound and sealed in the abyss for a thousand years;Revelation 20:3 LSB and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were finished. After these things he must be released for a short time.The abyss is a temporary prison or bottomless pit for certain demons. Even Demons stationed on earth fear to be sent there.Revelation 20:4 LSB the souls of those who were beheaded for rejecting the mark of the Beast and because of their witness of Jesus and the word of God, and came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.So these are the believers who were martyred in the tribulation. While they will reign with Christ they will not be considered part of the church.Revelation 20:1–6 LSB 5-6 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection. Over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.So the “first resurrection” is a category, not a single event.The “first resurrection” will include the OT saints, the Church, and the Tribulation martyrs. And verse 6 saysRevelation 20:6 LSB Over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.Nowhere does this term “thousand years” should be taken as symbolic. We are going to learn that in the millennial kingdom Israel will be the priestly nation, and the Gentile saints will be priestly people spread or assigned throughout the world.But I strongly believe the church will not be here in any part of the tribulation period. Because the church isn’t mentioned after Revelation 3 - While some believe the first half of the tribulation won’t be that bad need to read Rev 6. It’s the four horsemen passage.Seven seals are opened one at a time releasing one judgment after another - in the first four seals, the four horsemen are invited to come forth by one of four living creatures around the throne - the first one is riding on a white horse with a bow but no arrow indicating a pseudo peace.But the one on the red horse takes that peace from the earth,the one on the black horse brings worldwide food shortage and an economic crashthen the 4th one on the pale horse brings global famine and disease, [doesn’t sound so good]Many people will die from starvation, sickness or some new believers will be martyred but my point is, this is at the beginning of the Day of the Lord as foretold by Joel. The tribulation period, Jacob’s trouble and the 70the week of Daniel.There’s a great massive earthquake that will happen,the heavy smoke will block the sun andthe moon will be blood red at night from all the fires ignited.All the national leaders, generals, kings and presidents will go underground, in heavily fortified bunkers designed to ensure government can continue during such events such as nuclear war or global quakes that cause Tsunamis, Landslides, and aftershocks . But Rev 6.16-17 state how these people react.Revelation 6:16–17 LSB and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”So the day of wrath is in the beginning of the tribulation and steadily gets worse. But here’s the question:If the tribulation is called the Day of the Lord, the 70th week of Daniel and Jacob’s trouble then why not mention the church age?Let’s look at ....Dan 9.24Keep in mind, the church doesn’t exist yet but Judah was in captivity in Babylon because they were given over to idolatry and they ignored ten Sabbath rests for God’s land so captivity was 70 years.But after Daniel had repented for Judah’s sins, the angel Gabriel came to him. Dan 9.21-23Daniel 9:21–23 LSB and while I was still speaking in prayer, then the man Gabriel, [messenger of God] whom I had seen in the vision previously, touched me in my extreme weariness about the time of the evening offering. Then he made me understand and spoke with me and said, “O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you insight with understanding. “At the beginning of your supplications the word was issued, so I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed; so understand the message and gain understanding in what has appeared.verse 24Daniel 9:24–27 LSB “Seventy weeks have been determined for your people and for your holy city, 1] to finish the transgression, 2] to make an end of sin, 3] to make atonement for iniquity, 4] to bring in everlasting righteousness, 5] to seal up vision and prophecy, and 6] to anoint the Holy of Holies. “So you are to know and have insight that from the going out of a word [Cyrus] to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be restored and rebuilt, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress. [or 483 years or 173,880]And that’s exactly what happened: King Cyrus king of Persia was stirred by God to let the Jews go home and rebuild and restore the Temple in Jerusalem which took about 49 years or seven weeks. On the 173,880th is when Messiah the princerode into Jerusalem and wept over the city and said: If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace…” but now they’ve been hidden from your eyes!” — Luke 19:42Then He added in Luke 19:44 the city of Jerusalem would be leveled which was fulfilled in AD 70: And Jesus explained why...“…because they did not recognize the time of their visitation.” Jesus was saying: “The Scriptures told you exactly when your King would come — and you missed it.”Daniel 9:24–27 LSB 26 “Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are decreed.Upon his death on the cross there was a massive earthquake that ripped the veil from top to bottom. Jesus the Messiah was crucified to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness and on the third day He rose again. But this next prophecy has yet to happen.Daniel 9:27 LSB 27 “And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, [7 years] but in the middle of the week he will make sacrifice and grain offering cease; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.”This is what Jesus referred to in Matthew 24 - “when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. He was talking to Peter, James and John - all JewishThat brings us to Daniel 12.This time, it’s Michael the archangel who is described as the heavenly prince assigned to oversee and protect Israel. Look at verse 4.Daniel 12:4–13 LSB 4-5 “But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the time of the end; many will go to and fro, and knowledge will increase.” Then I, Daniel, looked, and behold, two others were standing, one on this bank of the river and the other on that bank of the river.For years I always thought that this referred to flight travel but the Hebrew phrase “to and fro” refers to people searching diligently in the last days to understand and “knowledge will increase” means they will have an increased understanding of this prophecy as the end approaches.Daniel 12:4–13 LSB 6-7 And one said to the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long will it be until the end of these wonders?” And I heard the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, as he raised his right hand and his left toward heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times, and half a time; and as soon as they complete shattering the power of the holy people, all these events will be completed.That’s 3 1/2 years, or 42 months, or 1260 days and these numbers are only mentioned in Daniel and Revelation.Daniel 12:4–13 LSB 8-10 As for me, I heard but could not understand; so I said, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these events?” Then he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for these words are concealed and sealed up until the time of the end. “Many will be purged, purified, and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.In other words, two different responses - the righteous will be purged, purified, and refined, and have insight to understand but the wicked will continue to live sinful lives and remain spiritually blind. Verses 11-13Daniel 12:4–13 LSB 11-13 “But from the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. “How blessed is he who keeps waiting and reaches the 1,335 days! “But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest and stand again for your allotted portion at the end of the days.”So Daniel is told he will die or “rest” but stand or rise again for his allotted portion! But Jesus warned Israel when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, flee!! That would be 1260 days right? But Daniel 12:11-12 introduces an additional 30 days plus 45 says equaling 75 days that extend beyond. And we will see that those 75 days, the earth will be prepared and restored for 1000 years of peace, prosperity and perfect government. Next week we will consider this 75 day interval.I know this is a lot but this tells us why the millennial kingdom is real and has a purpose. Jesus will return to earth and then seek out the Jewish survivors who will realize He’s the true Messiah and that their forefathers had Him killed but Jesus will embrace them and remove ungodliness from Jacob and fulfill His COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN HE TAKES AWAY THEIR SINS.” For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.Let us thank Him for His faithfulness to wash away our sins - Psalm 55:22NKJV
