  • Great News!

    Did you know this is the greatest news that could be shared at that time.
    Last week we talked about the hope that comes with Jesus.
    Look at what the Angels told the Shepherds after so many generations of waiting...
    Luke 2:10 NKJV
    10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
    They start by telling them this was not a negative message - DO NOT BE AFRAID!
    The Message is GOOD TIDINGS. The Message of Jesus is a Good Message. We are called to carry this message to the world and sometimes it comes out like a reason to be afraid.
    They already knew they needed a Savior. Perhaps the reason we don’t see Jesus as GOOD NEWS, is we don’t feel like we need Him.
    The angel calls this message GOOD TIDINGS of GREAT JOY! This should make you excited. They did not know what the Angels were talking about, but we do.
    This is GOOD TIDINGS of GREAT JOY for ALL PEOPLE!
    This Great News of Great Joy is what we are going to go into today. God with Us brings Joy!

    Joy is Found in Jesus!

    Philippians 4:4 NKJV
    4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
    Notice we are not called simply to rejoice, but to rejoice in the LORD. Our Joy is found in Jesus

    His Joy is Our Strength

    Nehemiah 8:10 NKJV
    10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
    His Joy is our Strength.
    Notice you cannot have His Joy without Him.

    Joy Replaces Fear

    Perfect love casts out fear, but what replaces it? Joy.
    Psalm 94:19 NIV
    19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.
    Do you have problems with anxieties? When you find yourself in the presences of “God With Us”, Jesus - He brings you comfort and Joy.

    Full Joy is found in His Presence

    Psalm 16:11 NKJV
    11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
    This wraps everything else together.
    God gave us Jesus to be the embodiment of His presence with us. Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit to continue His presence with us.
    Our Joy, Strength, and Comfort are only available when we are in His presence.
    Joy is one of the fruit of the Spirit that should be reflected in our life. Do you have Joy in your life?
    Joy replaces fear, so do you find yourself afraid?
    How do you get joy?
    Joy is from God
    Joy is a gift from Him to you through Jesus
    Joy is filled in His presence, and it is drained when we are away from His presence.
    Bad experiences cannot reduce joy, only our distance from the source of Joy.
    To fill back up, simply turn to Jesus. Experience His presence.

    12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
