GROUP DISCUSSION QUESTIONS FOR 10/19/2025
MATTHEW 28:18-20, ACTS 4:36-37; 9:26-27; 11:25-26; 15:36-40
1. How would you describe the difference between being a student of Jesus and being a disciple of Jesus?
Follow-Up: Can you think of a time when you learned a lot about God, but didn’t necessarily grow closer to Him? What made the difference later?
Action Step: Identify one way you can move from learning about Jesus to living more like Jesus this week.
2. In what ways do you see Jesus modeling “life-on-life” discipleship with His followers?
Follow-Up: Who has modeled that kind of relationship for you? What made their example powerful?
Action Step: Reach out to one person this week. Invite them to lunch, coffee, or a walk, simply to start building a relationship where discipleship could grow.
3. Which of Barnabas’s examples: helping others out, bringing others in, building others up, or letting others go—challenges you most?
Follow-Up: How might God be calling you to be a “Barnabas” to someone right now?
Action Step: Pray for that person by name this week, and take one intentional step to encourage or include them.
4. Acts 15 shows that even faithful people can disagree. What lessons can we learn from how God used Paul and Barnabas’s separation?
Follow-Up: How can we handle conflict or differences in ministry in a way that still honors God and furthers His mission?
Action Step: If there’s someone you’ve had tension within ministry, pray for them and ask God to show you one step toward peace or renewed partnership.
5. 2 Timothy 2:2 says we should entrust what we’ve learned to faithful people who will teach others. What might that look like in your home, small group, or workplace?
Follow-Up: What holds you back from discipling others, and how can God help you overcome that barrier?
Action Step: Write down one person you could begin discipling, or one step you could take to start preparing to disciple others and commit to act on it this month.
