SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 12/07/2025 LUKE 2:8-20
1. When have you experienced God bringing peace in the middle of a storm?
Follow-Up: What helped you recognize God’s presence in that season? What made it difficult?
Action Step: Identify one storm you’re currently facing. Write a short prayer this week asking God to show you where He is present in it. Share any answered prayers with your group next time.
2. God’s peace doesn’t wait for circumstances to improve. Where do you most need that kind of peace right now?
Follow-Up: What tends to disturb your peace most easily: people, pressure, fear, expectations, something else?
Action Step: Choose one Scripture from the sermon (Luke 2:8-20, Philippians 4:6–7, Isaiah 9:6-7, John 14:27) and meditate on it daily for one week. Use it to write a prayer to pray out loud whenever anxiety rises.
3. The angels declared 'peace on earth' to shepherds (ordinary, overlooked, night-shift workers). What does that tell you about the heart of God?
Follow-Up: Where do you personally struggle with feeling overlooked? Where do you need to be reminded that God sees you?
Action Step: This week, intentionally encourage someone in your life who may feel unnoticed. Bring them peace through presence or kindness.
4. Peace biblically is shalom: wholeness, restoration, and right relationship with God. Which area of your life most needs shalom right now?
Follow-Up: What has kept you from pursuing or receiving God’s peace in that area? (Fear? Busyness? Pride? Pain?)
Action Step: Choose one specific step to pursue shalom this week: a conversation, a moment of rest, forgiveness, prayer, counseling, or a boundary you need to set.
5. Jesus is not only the giver of peace, He is our peace. How does seeing peace as a Person change the way you seek it?
Follow-Up: Where are you tempted to seek peace apart from Jesus (comfort, distraction, control, escape)?
Action Step: Set aside a 10-minute quiet time this week to simply be with Jesus. No agenda, no requests, just presence. Invite Him to calm your heart.
6. The shepherds received peace, then carried that message outward. Where is God calling you to bring His peace this week?
Follow-Up: Who in your life needs the hope and peace of Christ right now?
Action Step: Take one intentional step of peacemaking: a phone call, a text, an apology, an act of service, or sharing how God is at work in your life.
