SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 01/04/2026 MATTHEW 10:1-8; JOHN 20:21
1. How do you relate to the disciples’ sense of being underqualified?
Follow-up: Where in your life have you felt God calling you, but thought, “Surely not me”?
Action Step: Write down one area where God may be calling you to step out this week, and pray for courage to respond.
2. What does it mean that Jesus equips the willing, not the qualified?
Follow-up: How have you seen God provide what you needed for a task He called you to do?
Action Step: Choose one assignment or interaction this week where you will rely entirely on God’s power, not your own.
3. How does it change your perspective that mission isn’t optional, but part of your identity in Christ?
Follow-up: Who in your neighborhood, workplace, or school, could you intentionally reach this week?
Action Step: Identify one person or group and pray for a practical opportunity to show Christ’s love.
4. How does the idea that God works through availability rather than ability challenge you?
Follow-up: What excuses or fears often hold you back from stepping into God’s calling?
Action Step: This week, intentionally say, “Lord, I am available. Use me,” before a specific task or conversation.
5. How does the phrase “help bring about the depopulation of hell” shape your understanding of mission?
Follow-up: How can your words, actions, and presence bring hope to someone lost or in need?
Action Step: Pray for 2–3 people by name and take one practical step to show God’s love to them this week.
6. As we begin a new year, what part of your life do you feel God is asking you to surrender afresh?
Follow-up: How could this renewal impact the way you live and serve in 2026?
Action Step: Write a one-sentence commitment to God for the year, then share it with a trusted friend or mentor for accountability.
