*Psalm 115

Leader: Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory,

                    For the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!

People: Why should the nations say,

                   “Where is their God?”

Leader: Our God is in the heavens;

                   He does all that he pleases.

People: Their idols are silver and gold,

                   The work of human hands.

Leader: They have mouths, but do not speak;

                   Eyes, but do not see.

People: They have ears, but do not hear;

                   Noses, but do not smell.

Leader: They have hands, but do not feel;

                   Feet, but do not walk;

                   And they do not make a sound in their throat.

People: Those who make them become like them;

                   So do all who trust in them.

Leader: O Israel, trust in the Lord!

                   He is their help and their shield.

People: O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord!

                   He is their help and their shield.

Leader: You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord!

                   He is their help and their shield.

People: The Lord has remembered us; he will bless us;

                   He will bless the house of Israel;

                   He will bless the house of Aaron;

Leader: He will bless those who fear the Lord,

                   Both the small and the great.

People: May the Lord give you increase,

                   You and your children!

Leader: May you be blessed by the Lord,

                   Who made heaven and earth!

People: The heavens are the Lord's heavens,

                   But the earth he has given to the children of man.

Leader: The dead do not praise the Lord,

                   Nor do any who go down into silence.

People: But we will bless the Lord

                   From this time forth and forevermore.

                   Praise the Lord!

*Hymn of Preparation – Hymn #457

"Come, Thou Font of Every Blessing"

Come, thou fount of ev'ry blessing,

tune my heart to sing thy grace;

streams of mercy, never ceasing,

call for songs of loudest praise.

Teach me some melodious sonnet,

sung by flaming tongues above;

praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it,

mount of God's unchanging love.

Here I raise my Ebenezer;

hither by thy help I'm come;

and I hope, by thy good pleasure,

safely to arrive at home.

Jesus sought me when a stranger,

wand'ring from the fold of God:

he, to rescue me from danger,

interposed his precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor

daily I'm constrained to be;

let that grace now, like a fetter,

bind my wand'ring heart to thee.

Prone to wander – Lord, I feel it –

prone to leave the God I love;

here's my heart, O take and seal it,

seal it for thy courts above.

Invocation

Confession of Sin

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

Hallowed by thy Name.

Thy Kingdom come.

Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Confession of Faith

 The Westminster Shorter Catechism

Q. 84: What doth every sin deserve?

A. Every sin deserveth God’s wrath and curse, both in this life, and that which is to come.

Q. 85: What doth God require of us, that we may escape his wrath and curse, due to us for sin?

A. To escape the wrath and curse of God, due to us for sin, God requireth of us faith in Jesus Christ, repentance unto life, with the diligent use of all the outward means whereby Christ communicateth to us the benefits of redemption.

*The Gloria Patri

Glory be to the Father,

and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be.

world without end. Amen, amen.

Adoration and Praise

Congregational Response – Hymn #648

“My Jesus, I Love Thee”

My Jesus, I love thee, I know thou art mine;

for thee all the follies of sin I resign.

My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art thou;

If ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.

I love thee because thou hast first loved me,

and purchased my pardon on Calvary's tree.

I love thee for wearing the thorns on thy brow;

if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.

I'll love thee in life, I will love thee in death;

and praise thee as long as thou lendest me breath;

and say, when the death-dew lies cold on my brow:

if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.

In mansions of glory and endless delight,

I'll ever adore thee in heaven so bright;

I'll sing with the glittering crown on my brow:

if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.

God’s Blessing on His People

 *Congregational Response – Hymn #296

All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name!”

All hail the pow'r of Jesus' name!

Let angels prostrate fall;

bring forth the royal diadem,

and crown him Lord of all;

bring forth the royal diadem,

and crown him Lord of all.

Crown him, ye martyrs of your God,

who from his altar call;

extol the Stem of Jesse's rod,

and crown him Lord of all;

extol the Stem of Jesse's rod,

and crown him Lord of all.

Ye seed of Israel's chosen race,

ye ransomed of the fall,

hail him who saves you by his grace,

and crown him Lord of all;

hail him who saves you by his grace,

and crown him Lord of all.

Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget

the wormwood and the gall,

go, spread your trophies at his feet,

and crown him Lord of all;

go, spread your trophies at his feet,

and crown him Lord of all.

Let ev'ry kindred, ev'ry tribe,

on this terrestrial ball,

to him all majesty ascribe,

and crown him Lord of all;

to him all majesty ascribe,

and crown him Lord of all.

O that with yonder sacred throng

we at his feet may fall;

we'll join the everlasting song,

and crown him Lord of all;

we'll join the everlasting song,

and crown him Lord of all.
