*Psalm 30
Leader: I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
All: O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
and you have healed me.
Leader: O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.
All: Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.
Leader: For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is
for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
All: As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.”
Leader: By your favor, O Lord, you made my mountain stand strong;
you hid your face; I was dismayed.
All: To you, O Lord, I cry, and to the Lord I plead for mercy:
Leader: “What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness?
All: Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me! O Lord, be my helper!”
Leader: You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
All: That my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
*Hymn of Preparation – # 295
“Crown Him with Many Crowns”
Crown him with many crowns,
the Lamb upon his throne;
hark! how the heav'nly anthem drowns
all music but its own:
awake, my soul, and sing
of him who died for thee,
and hail him as thy matchless King
through all eternity.
Crown him the Lord of love;
behold his hands and side,
rich wounds, yet visible above,
in beauty glorified:
no angel in the sky
can fully bear that sight,
but downward bends his burning eye
at mysteries so bright.
Crown him the Lord of peace;
whose pow'r a scepter sways
from pole to pole, that wars may cease,
absorbed in prayer and praise:
his reign shall know no end;
and round his pierced feet
fair flow'rs of paradise extend
their fragrance ever sweet.
Crown him the Lord of years,
the Potentate of time;
Creator of the rolling spheres,
ineffably sublime:
all hail, Redeemer, hail!
for thou hast died for me:
thy praise shall never, never fail
throughout eternity.
Invocation
Congregational Confession of Sin
Leader: Most holy and merciful Father, we confess that we have sinned against you by not keeping your commandments.
All: We confess that we have preferred the ways of this world to your ways. We have rebelled against your wisdom and sought after foolishness. We have rejected your fatherly commands and have done what is right in our own eyes.
Leader: Forgive us, we pray. Enable us to receive and rest in the truth that we have been justified by faith and have peace with you through our Lord Jesus Christ.
All: Give us a growing desire to joyfully serve you and one another as we follow after our Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in unity with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.
Private Confession of Sin
Assurance of Forgiveness
“But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it --- the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:21-24

Adoration and Praise
*Congregational Response – Hymn # 498
“Jesus! What a Friend for Sinners!”
Jesus! what a Friend for sinners!
Jesus! lover of my soul;
friends may fail me, foes assail me,
he, my Savior, makes me whole.
Refrain:
Hallelujah! what a Savior!
Hallelujah, what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
he is with me to the end.
Jesus! what a strength in weakness!
Let me hide myself in him;
tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,
he, my strength, my vict'ry wins. [Refrain]
Jesus! what a help in sorrow!
While the billows o'er me roll,
even when my heart is breaking,
he, my comfort, helps my soul. [Refrain]
Jesus! what a guide and keeper!
While the tempest still is high,
storms about me, night o'ertakes me,
he, my pilot, hears my cry. [Refrain]
Jesus! I do now receive him,
more than all in him I find;
he hath granted me forgiveness,
I am his, and he is mine. [Refrain]
*Confession of Faith The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,
begotten of his Father before all worlds,
God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God,
begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father;
by whom all things were made;
who for us and for our salvation
came down from heaven,
and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary,
and was made man;
and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered and was buried;
and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures,
and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father;
and he shall come again, with glory,
to judge both the living and the dead;
whose kingdom shall have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son;
who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified;
who spoke by the prophets;
and we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church,
we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins,
and we look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen
*The Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be.
world without end. Amen, amen.
Offering “I Met Jesus at the Foot of the Cross”
*Doxology
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
praise him, all creatures here below;
praise him above, ye heavn'ly host;
praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Communion Hymn – # 252
“When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”
When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
save in the death of Christ my God:
all the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood.
See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down:
did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small;
love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.

God’s Blessing on His People
*Congregational Response – Hymn # 460
“Amazing Grace”
Amazing grace!– how sweet the sound–
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved;
how precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed!
Thro' many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
his Word my hope secures;
he will my shield and portion be,
as long as life endures.
And when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil
a life of joy and peace.
When we've been there ten thousand years,
bright shining as the sun,
we've no less days to sing God's praise
than when we've first begun.
