*Psalm 103

Leader: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me,

                 bless his holy name!

All:      Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,

Leader: Who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,

All:      Who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,

Leader: Who satisfies you with good so that your youth is

                  renewed like the eagle's.

All:      The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.

Leader: He made known his ways to Moses,

                 his acts to the people of Israel.

All:     The Lord is merciful and gracious,

                 slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

Leader: He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.

All:      He does not deal with us according to our sins,

                 nor repay us according to our iniquities.

Leader: For as high as the heavens are above the earth,

                 so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;

All:      As far as the east is from the west,

                 so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

Leader: As a father shows compassion to his children,

                 so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.

All:      For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.

Leader: As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field;

All:      For the wind passes over it, and it is gone,

             and its place knows it no more.

Leader: But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children,

All:      To those who keep his covenant

                 and remember to do his commandments.

Leader: The Lord has established his throne in the heavens,

                 and his kingdom rules over all.

All:      Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word!

Leader: Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will!

All:      Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion.

                  Bless the Lord, O my soul!

*Hymn of preparation Hymn # 115

“All Creatures of Our God and King”

All creatures of our God and King,

lift up your voice with us and sing

alleluia, alleluia!

Thou burning sun with golden beam,

thou silver moon with softer gleam,

O praise him, O praise him,

alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

O rushing wind that art so strong,

ye clouds that sail in heav'n along,

alleluia, alleluia!

Thou rising morn in praise rejoice,

ye lights of evening, find a voice,

O praise him, O praise him,

alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Thou flowing water, pure and clear,

make music for thy Lord to hear,

alleluia, alleluia!

Thou fire, so masterful and bright

that givest man both warmth and light,

O praise him, O praise him,

alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

And all ye men of tender heart,

forgiving others, take your part,

O sing ye, alleluia!

Ye who long pain and sorrow bear,

praise God and on him cast your care,

O praise him, O praise him,

alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Let all things their Creator bless,

and worship him in humbleness,

O praise him, alleluia!

Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,

and praise the Spirit, three in one.

O praise him, O praise him,

alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Invocation

Congregational Confession of Sin

Leader: Almighty and most merciful Father, we acknowledge and publicly confess that we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed the sinful intentions and desires of our own hearts.

All:      We have not obeyed your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done.

Leader: We approach your throne of grace, O Lord, and we pray that you would forgive our many sins and transgressions. Restore those who are penitent according to your promises declared to us in the Lord Jesus Christ. Grant us the daily increase of your Holy Spirit that we might put to death the sin that is within us and bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives.

All:        We ask this through the merit and mediation of our risen and ascended Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in unity with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness

“And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”                Acts 10:42-43

Adoration and Praise

*Congregational Response                                                          Hymn # 535

“O the Deep, Deep, Love of Jesus!”

O the deep, deep love of Jesus!

Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free;

rolling as a mighty ocean

in its fullness over me.

Underneath me, all around me,

is the current of thy love;

leading onward, leading homeward,

to thy glorious rest above.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus!

Spread his praise from shore to shore;

how he loveth, ever loveth,

changeth never, nevermore;

how he watches o'er his loved ones,

died to call them all his own;

how for them he intercedeth,

watcheth o'er them from the throne.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus!

Love of ev'ry love the best:

'tis an ocean vast of blessing,

'tis a haven sweet of rest.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus!

'tis a heav'n of heav'ns to me;

and it lifts me up to glory,

for it lifts me up to thee.

 *Congregational Response                                                         Hymn # 650

“I Will Sing of My Redeemer”

I will sing of my Redeemer,

and his wondrous love to me;

on the cruel cross he suffered,

from the curse to set me free.

Refrain:

Sing, O sing of my Redeemer!

With his blood he purchased me;

on the cross he sealed my pardon,

paid the debt and made me free.

I will tell the wondrous story,

how my lost estate to save,

in his boundless love and mercy,

he the ransom freely gave. (Refrain)

I will praise my dear Redeemer,

his triumphant pow'r I'll tell,

how the victory he giveth

over sin and death and hell. (Refrain)

I will sing of my Redeemer

and his heav'nly love to me;

he from death to life has brought me,

Son of God, with him to be. (Refrain)
