Matthew 26:17–30 CSB On the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” “Go into the city to a certain man,” he said, “and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My time is near; I am celebrating the Passover at your place with my disciples.’ ” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover. When evening came, he was reclining at the table with the Twelve. While they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.” Deeply distressed, each one began to say to him, “Surely not I, Lord?” He replied, “The one who dipped his hand with me in the bowl—he will betray me. The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for him if he had not been born.” Judas, his betrayer, replied, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” “You have said it,” he told him. As they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take and eat it; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks, he gave it to them and said, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. But I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.Exodus 12:26–27 CSB When your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ you are to reply, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, for he passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt when he struck the Egyptians, and he spared our homes.’ ” So the people knelt low and worshiped.Exodus 24:6–8 CSB Moses took half the blood and set it in basins; the other half of the blood he splattered on the altar. He then took the covenant scroll and read it aloud to the people. They responded, “We will do and obey all that the Lord has commanded.” Moses took the blood, splattered it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you concerning all these words.”Jeremiah 31:31–34 CSB “Look, the days are coming”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. This one will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt—my covenant that they broke even though I am their master”—the Lord’s declaration. “Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days”—the Lord’s declaration. “I will put my teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know me, from the least to the greatest of them”—this is the Lord’s declaration. “For I will forgive their iniquity and never again remember their sin.Psalm 113-118YouHead - What did you learn today?Whenever we encounter God we must adjust to Him.Heart - What adjustment is God calling you to make?Gospel PresentationIf you are here and you are not a follower of Jesus, I want to take a moment to speak directly to you. God loves you so much. John 3:16 tells us that “God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” I don’t know what brought you here today. Maybe you were invited by a friend. Perhaps you came to one of our events or you met someone from this church somewhere around town. You could be one of the many who walk by and feel drawn to visit. Maybe you are searching for something or have been coming for a while, being drawn back for any number of reasons. And I would not be surprised if you are hurting, overwhelmed, confused, or just feel like you are treading water. In Matthew 11:28–30 Jesus says ““Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.””Jesus came to die in our place on that cross, because as Paul tells us in Romans, Romans 3:23 “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;” and Romans 6:23 “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Sin is what it is called when we disobey God, and we all have done it. But Jesus did not stay in the grave, but rose from the dead on the third day. As the living Savior, he offers you eternal life. Jesus is just waiting for you to come to him, seeking forgiveness for your sin and choosing to trust him with your life, and he will freely give you eternal life, and rest, and an abundant life. I invite you today to choose to follow Jesus. There is no more important decision that you can make. This is the first adjustment we make to God.Hands - What does it look like for you to be obedient today?Us - Habits- what would it look like if we ALL were obedient in this area????InvitationI want to challenge you to publically respond to Jesus this morning. Romans 12:6–8 CSB According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the proportion of one’s faith; if service, use it in service; if teaching, in teaching; if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.1 Corinthians 12:4–11 CSB Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God works all of them in each person. A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good: to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of tongues, to another, interpretation of tongues. One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as he wills.Ephesians 4:11–13 CSB And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness.1 Peter 4:10–11 CSB Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God. If anyone speaks, let it be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.Philippians 2:3–4 CSB Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look not to his own interests, but rather to the interests of others.YouHead - What did you learn today? How has God gifted you?Whenever we encounter God we must adjust to Him.Heart - What adjustment is God calling you to make? What makes it difficult for you to use your gifts?Gospel PresentationIf you are here and you are not a follower of Jesus, I want to take a moment to speak directly to you.
