  • Acts 1:1–5 ESV
In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

    Change

    Acts 1:1–2 ESV
In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.
This book is our history. Jesus changed everything. This is the true testimony of our heritage as the church. We are a part of this story because Jesus changed everything.
This true story has the power to change your life.
All that Jesus did: his life, miracles, suffering, death, and resurrection.
All that Jesus taught: Principles of The Kingdom.
This is the gospel. It changes everything.
    Jesus offers

    Proof

    Acts 1:3 ESV
He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.
The fact is that this documents real sacrifices made by people who claimed that Jesus appeared to them alive after being crucified. For centuries, people have been suffering for witnessing to the resurrection of Jesus. Acts details eye witness accounts. But we also witness to the power of Jesus being alive by our testimonies of Him working in our lives. Jesus proves reliable everyday to normal people who follow Him in faith.
    Jesus offers…

    Power

    Acts 1:4–5 ESV
And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Jesus’ promise of the Holy Spirit is available to all who would trust Him in His promise. If you believe Jesus, he will fulfill His promises. We receive them all by faith. We trust Him at His Word.
The Holy Spirit is available to you right here and right now. The Holy Spirit is obsessed with making Jesus known. You will not fully experience His power until you surrender completely to His purposes in making Jesus BIG!!
you should care about the book of Acts because it is the beginning of OUR STORY!
We are living under the rule of Jesus in the Kingdom of God waiting for Him to finalize His rule everywhere.
