    Exodus 34:28–35 NLT
28 Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord wrote the terms of the covenant—the Ten Commandments—on the stone tablets. 29 When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord. 30 So when Aaron and the people of Israel saw the radiance of Moses’ face, they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called out to them and asked Aaron and all the leaders of the community to come over, and he talked with them. 32 Then all the people of Israel approached him, and Moses gave them all the instructions the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai. 33 When Moses finished speaking with them, he covered his face with a veil. 34 But whenever he went into the Tent of Meeting to speak with the Lord, he would remove the veil until he came out again. Then he would give the people whatever instructions the Lord had given him, 35 and the people of Israel would see the radiant glow of his face. So he would put the veil over his face until he returned to speak with the Lord.
    INTRODUCTION:

I- THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD FADE AWAY. (Exodus 34:28 )

    Exodus 34:28 NLT
28 Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord wrote the terms of the covenant—the Ten Commandments—on the stone tablets.

A- The cares and concerns of this world fade away. (Exodus 34:28 a)

    Exodus 34:28 NLT
28 Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord wrote the terms of the covenant—the Ten Commandments—on the stone tablets.
1- The things that would normally consume our minds become less important because we know that God will take care of us.
    (Matthew 6:24-34)
    Matthew 6:24–34 NLT
24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money. 25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. 34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
2- His presence provides confidence for living.
    (Psalm 16:8)
    Psalm 16:8 NLT
8 I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
    (Isaiah 40:31)
    Isaiah 40:31 NLT
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

    B- Fulfilling God’s will becomes priority. (Exodus 34:28 b)

    Exodus 34:28 NLT
28 Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord wrote the terms of the covenant—the Ten Commandments—on the stone tablets.
    1- Fellowshipping with Him.
    a. The more we spend time in fellowship with Him, the stronger will be our desire to do His will.
    (John 15:4-5)
    John 15:4–5 NLT
4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. 5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
    (Philippians 2:13)
    Philippians 2:13 NLT
13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
    2- Following him.
    a. To follow him means to obey him.
    (Luke 9:23)
    Luke 9:23 NLT
23 Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

II- THE COUNTENANCE OF THE CHRISTIAN CHANGES. (Exodus 34:29-33)

    Exodus 34:29–33 NLT

A- Changes that we may not even know. (Exodus 34:29)

    Exodus 34:29 NLT
29 When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord.
1- Christ becomes visible in us.
    (Galatians 5:22-23)
    Galatians 5:22–23 NLT
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
2- God’s glory becomes reflected in us.
    (2 Corinthians 3:18)
    2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT
18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

B- Changes that are visible to others. (Exodus 34:30)

    Exodus 34:30 NLT
30 So when Aaron and the people of Israel saw the radiance of Moses’ face, they were afraid to come near him.
    1- Attitudes that reflect Jesus.
    (Philippians 2:5)
    Philippians 2:5 NLT
5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
    2- Love that shows Jesus.
    (1 Thessalonians 3:12)
    1 Thessalonians 3:12 NLT
12 And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.
3- The Apostles experienced this. (Acts 4:13)
Acts 4:13 (NLT) 13 The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.

III- THE DESIRE TO SEEK GOD’S PRESENCE GROWS. (Exodus 34:34-35)

    Exodus 34:34–35 NLT
34 But whenever he went into the Tent of Meeting to speak with the Lord, he would remove the veil until he came out again. Then he would give the people whatever instructions the Lord had given him, 35 and the people of Israel would see the radiant glow of his face. So he would put the veil over his face until he returned to speak with the Lord.

A- When you have really experienced fellowship with the Lord, you want more. (Exodus 34:34)

    Exodus 34:34 NLT
34 But whenever he went into the Tent of Meeting to speak with the Lord, he would remove the veil until he came out again. Then he would give the people whatever instructions the Lord had given him,
1- When you hunger for Him, you will be satisfied.
    (Matthew 5:6)
    Matthew 5:6 NLT
6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.
    Paul’s great desire:
    (Philippians 3:8-11)
    Philippians 3:8–11 NLT
8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. 10 I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, 11 so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!

B- When you continue to draw aside with God, it will be reflected in your life. (Exodus 34:35)

    Exodus 34:35 NLT
35 and the people of Israel would see the radiant glow of his face. So he would put the veil over his face until he returned to speak with the Lord.
1- The impact on your life will open doors to share Jesus with others. (1 Peter 3:15)
    1 Peter 3:15 NLT
15 Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.
D.L. Moody - God has a monopoly on D.L. Moody
When a group of British pastors was discussing the advisability of inviting evangelist D.L. Moody to their city for a crusade, one man asked, “Why must it be Moody? Does D.L. Moody have a monopoly on the Holy Spirit?” Quietly one of the other pastors replied, “No, but it’s evident that the Holy Spirit has a monopoly on D.L. Moody.”

    CONCLUSION:
Spending time alone with God does amazing things for the child of God,
I- THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD FADE AWAY.
II- THE COUNTENANCE OF THE CHRISTIAN CHANGES.
III- THE DESIRE TO SEEK GOD’S PRESENCE GROWS.
    Alone With God
Softly fall the shades of evening,
    Twilight spreads her mantle broad,
O’er my soul there comes a longing,
    To be alone—alone with God.
    To some quiet place retreating,
    Forbidden is each earthly care,
Closed the door to all but Jesus
At this sacred hour of prayer.
    Alone with God—a holy stillness
    O’er my spirit gently steals,
In the secret of His Presence
Here my soul His glory feels.
    Far above this world’s confusion,
Winged by faith my spirit soars
To the throne—where my dear Saviour,
In my soul His glory pours.
Alone with God, O blest Communion,
Naught on earth could sweeter be,
For my soul is lost in rapture,
When my Saviour speaks to me.
Here He tells me how He loves me,
How for me His life He gave,
On the rugged Cross He suffered,
There my soul from sin to save.
Alone with God—could I but tell it,
As by faith my Lord I see,
And the joy of life eternally
In that Home prepared for me.
Alone with God—Ah, yes, I love it
Naught on earth could sweeter be,
For my soul is lost in rapture,
When my Saviour speaks to me.
