Isaiah 9:2–7NASB95
2 Corinthians 9:6–7NASB95
- Our prayer is that everyone here this today knows Jesus Christ who is the Light. Here are 5 rays of light from the Word of God that brings illumination of the Man who was born to be the Light of the World. The Light of Christmas:1. Dispels the Darkness
Isaiah 9:2 NASB95 2 The people who walk in darkness Will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, The light will shine on them.Matthew 4:12–17 NASB95 12 Now when Jesus heard that John had been taken into custody, He withdrew into Galilee; 13 and leaving Nazareth, He came and settled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. 14 This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: 15 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— 16 “The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great Light, And those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death, Upon them a Light dawned.” 17 From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”Isaiah 9:6 NASB95 6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.2. Gives Direction/ProtectionThe baby in the manger of Bethlehem grew to be a perfect man and stood before His people and said:John 8:12 (NASB95) 12 “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”We are to follow the Light into greater love and knowledge of God, Like the glory of God that led the Israelites out of the land of Egypt into the promised land.Exodus 13:21–22 NASB95 21 The Lord was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. It was Jesus who led them. They did not move until Jesus, in the form of the cloud and fire, rose above the tabernacle and began to move.He not only led them by showing where they should go, but He also protected them as they headed into the wilderness. It was Jesus who stood between Israel and the army of Pharaoh as they escaped across the Red Sea.It is our Lord Jesus who gives us direction today. We should not move until we have direction from His Word so that we know that it is Him who is leading us.By obeying His Word we also have protection. Instructions like:1 Timothy 6:10–11 NASB95 10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 11 But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.3. Is Life ItselfJohn 1:1–5 NASB95 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.God is the source of all true light. Life comes only from Him. He created physical life in the beginning and He creates spiritual life in us.Evolution is the impossible lie that life comes from nothing. It expects us to believe that a ball of mass and energy appeared out of nowhere with no intelligence and nothing to cause its existence. That ball then exploded, flooding the universe with light and bringing life into cosmos. This is a Satanic counterfeit to the true creator of life.True life is connection and relationship with Him, it is purpose and fulfillment in all our activity. Life is bringing glory to God.Do you have the life of the Savior, Jesus inside you?4. The Light of Christmas Radiates GodHe is not only the perfect man but He is God himself.Hebrews 1:3 NASB95 3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,That baby in the manger of Christmas was God of God. He did not become God. He did not just contain God-likeness. His very nature was the exact representation of God’s nature in human form. As God, He had always been God. He radiated all the attributes of deity. He demonstrated the power of God through His healings, control over nature, and rising from the dead; He demonstrated the perfect love of God through his compassion for men and women and by giving himself as a sacrifice for lost humanity. He demonstrated the sovereignty of God by accomplishing His will despite the interference of men and Satan. In these ways and many others, Jesus radiated the glory of God.If you want to know God, know Jesus! May we bask in the radiance emitted by Jesus the Savior. Feel the warmth of His perfect love. Surrender to His sovereign will in your life. Call upon His power to overcome the impossible in your life.5. The Light of Christmas Is Coming AgainIsaiah 9:7 NASB95 7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this. This has not happened yet. But the baby in Bethlehem was born to be King of Kings and Lord of Lords. His kingdom is now in heaven and in our hearts, but someday, maybe soon, He will dismantle all earthly governments, states, countries, kingdoms, and administrations. then He will establish a new kingdom with righteous laws, just judgements, perfect peace, and purposeful prosperity. If you agree that Jesus is the Light of the world, then you must admit that apart from Him you live in utter darkness. Darkness is the symbol of sin and it is sin that separates us from God. Apart from Jesus you are still in your sin, but Jesus came that our sin might be lifted as darkness is lifted when a light is turned on. The Light is on but all of us are so used to the darkness that we keep our eyes shut and refuse believe that the Light is here. I ask you today to open your eyes to the Light. What I mean by that is that you believe Jesus is who the Bible says He is. He is God who has come as a man to save men from the darkness and eternal punishment of sin. Will you surrender yourself to Him today, admit you have broken God's law, and ask Him to save you from the punishment that you deserve? When someone does that, then they truly have opened their eyes and can live in the light. Isaiah 9:2NASB95
