    Kid’s Time:
    Proposition: The sacrifice of Jesus is sufficient to forgive the sins of everyone who believes.
    In verses 1-10 we saw that the sacrifice of Jesus is sufficient because His sacrifice was not an animal but his own body. There are 2 more reasons given to us in verses 11-18.

    I. Because He Sat Down

    A. The Priest Cannot Sit

    1. They Must Stand

    Hebrews 10:11 NASB95
    11 Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins;

    2. They Offer the Same Sacrifices Over and Over

    Hebrews 10:11 NASB95
    11 Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins;

    3. Their Sacrifices Are Powerless

    Hebrews 10:11 NASB95
    11 Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins;

    B. Jesus Can Rest in His Work

    1. Jesus Only Offered One Sacrifice

    Hebrews 10:12 NASB95
    12 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,

    2. His Work Lasts Forever

    Hebrews 10:12 NASB95
    12 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,

    3. His Work is Done

    He Is Resting in Honor
    Hebrews 10:12 NASB95
    12 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,
    He has mentioned this already but each time it has a different significance.

    4. His Work Is Victorious

    Hebrews 10:13 NASB95
    13 waiting from that time onward until His enemies be made a footstool for His feet.

    5. His Work Is Perfect

    Hebrews 10:14 NASB95
    14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.
    AW Pink commented:
    Compare/contrast between Christ and Aaron (and those who followed after him)
    Compare: both were priests, both made sacrifices
    Contrasts: Jesus stands alone/the priests were numerous
    Jesus offered one sacrifice/the priests offered countless sacrifices
    Jesus ‘s sacrifice was final/the priest’s sacrifices never end
    Jesus’ sacrifice provided real cleansing from sin/the priest’s sacrifices covered over sin
    Jesus sat down to show his work was done/the priests stood because they were never done.
    Jesus is seated in honor at the right hand of God/the priests were servants of God
    Jesus lives in the presence of God in heaven/the priests entered the holy of holies only once a year.
    Jesus never stops being a priest because He is alive forever/Aaron and his sons are dead.
    An Exposition of Hebrews Chapter 48: The Perfecting of the Church (Heb. 10:11–14)

    There is both a comparison and a contrast here between Christ and Aaron and his successors. Both were priests; both offered a sacrifice for sins; but there the analogy between them ends. They were many; He alone. They offered numerous sacrifices; He, but one. They continued to offer sacrifices; His is complete and final. Their offerings were un-efficacious; His, has actually removed sins. They stood; He has sat down. They ministered unto God; He is seated at the right hand of God. The typical high priest entered the holiest only for a brief season, one day in the year; Christ has gone on High “forever.” He has not ceased to be a Priest, nor to exercise that office; but He is now “a Priest upon His throne”

    Because the Holy Spirit Testified It.

    Hebrews 10:15 NASB95
    15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,
    The source of the following quote from Jeremiah is the Holy Spirit. For anyone who would try to deny that Christ was the perfect and final sacrifice, they would dare not contradict the Holy Spirit. The word of the Holy Spirit is beyond reproach.
    Hebrews 10:16 NASB95
    16This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws upon their heart, And on their mind I will write them,” He then says,
    Hebrews 10:17 NASB95
    17And their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
    Hebrews 10:18 NASB95
    18 Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin.
    S. Lewis Johnson: Ms. Marsh once said, “There was quoted to my father, the Reverend W. Marsh, a saying of old Fuller’s. ‘He that falls into sin is a man. He that grieves at sin is a saint. He that boasts of sin is a devil.’ My father replied, ‘There is only one thing more, he that forgives sin is God.’”
