    Kid’s Time: What do you like most about your mom?
    Proposition:
    8 Character qualities from the Scriptures that should be evident in a godly mom.
    Introduction:
    Qualities Needed In All Moms
    A panel of experts was asked to complete some sentences about their moms. What made them experts was the one thing they all had in common. They were all kindergarteners. Even though these are the words of 6 year olds I think the qualities they recognized in their moms are the qualities needed in all moms. Here are the sentences and the answers:
    My mom is best at: "feeding the dog," "making my bed," "driving," "cleaning," "running," "riding a two-wheeler," "watering the garden."
    If I had enough money, I'd buy her: "flowers," "a car," "a necklace," "a brand-new fan," "a kitten," "a diamond ring," "a big pack of bubble gum."
    It makes me feel good inside when Mom says: "I love you," "good job," "dinnertime!" "You look handsome," "I'll buy you something."
    My mom is as pretty as a -- "butterfly," "ballerina," "mouse," "princess," "my brothers," "goose," "gold ring," "a clean horse."
    By the way, one of the most memorable comments from the children on Father's Day was: Daddy gets tired out from: "chasing mommy."

    1. PURE:

    Titus 2:5 NASB95
    to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
    53. ἁγνός hagnós; fem. hagnḗ, neut. hagnón, adj. Freedom from defilements or impurities. In a more restricted sense, not only chaste but also virginal. Akin to hágios (40), holy.
    (I) Innocent, pure, blameless (2Cor. 7:11; Phil. 4:8; 1Tim. 5:22).
    (II) Modest, chaste (2Cor. 11:2; Titus 2:5; 1Pet. 3:2).[1]

    When Robert Ingersoll, the notorious skeptic, was in his heyday, two college students went to hear him lecture. As they walked down the street after the lecture, one said to the other, “Well, I guess he knocked the props out from under Christianity, didn’t he?” The other said, “No, I don’t think he did. Ingersoll did not explain my mother’s life, and until he can explain my mother’s life I will stand by my mother’s God.”

    3. FAITHFUL:

    Psalm 101:6 (NASB95) My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; He who walks in a blameless way is the one who will minister to me.

    Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things.

    “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.
    Faithful: in time with God; faithful in honoring her husband; faithful with mundane task like cleaning, cooking, wiping noses; and faithful modeling godly behavior.
    A minister's wife told of filling out a form in her pediatrician's office. Beside the blank marked "occupation" were these words: "If you devote the greater part of your time to loving, caring and making a home for your family, put a big star in this space."

    4. SINCERE:

    2 Timothy 1:5 NASB95
    For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.
    505. ἀνυπόκριτος anupókritos; gen. anupokrítou, masc.–fem., neut. anupókriton, adj. from the priv. a (1), without, and hupokrínomai (5271), to pretend, simulate. Originally it meant inexperienced in the art of acting. In the NT, it came to mean one without hypocrisy or pretense, unfeigned, genuine, real, true, sincere (Rom. 12:9; 2 Cor. 6:6; 1 Tim. 1:5; 2 Tim. 1:5; 1 Pet. 1:22; James 3:17).[2]
    A genuineness to their faith that was heart felt and self sacrificing.
    Years ago, a young mother was making her way across the hills of South Wales, carrying her tiny baby in her arms, when she was overtaken by a blinding blizzard. She never reached her destination and when the blizzard had subsided her body was found by searchers beneath a mound of snow. But they discovered that before her death, she had taken off all her outer clothing and wrapped it about her baby. When they unwrapped the child, to their great surprise and joy, they found he was alive and well. She had mounded her body over his and given her life for her child, proving the depths of her mother love. Years later that child, David Lloyd George, grown to manhood, became prime minister of Great Britain, and, without doubt, one of England’s greatest statesman.

    6. DILIGENT

    The Value of the Job
    Being a mother is a demanding job. As a matter of fact, according to a recent report from Salary.com, a website dedicated to researching average salaries for various jobs and industries, reports that stay-at-home moms would earn an average of $131,471 annually, including overtime, if they received a paycheck. Of course, we have to take into account that would be about $43,000 to cover the base salary for 40 hour a week jobs. The moms here can attest that they would definitely earn the other $88,000 a year for 60 hours of overtime each week. And that just covers the waking hours! Among the jobs the stay-at-home moms reported to Salary.com were day-care center teacher, van driver, housekeeper, cook, chief executive officer, nurse and general maintenance worker. These are all jobs that are fairly easy to appoint a dollar value but like those MasterCard advertisements there are many “priceless” aspects to the job: the hug that comes at just the right time, the crust cut off the sandwich in just the right way, the reassuring laugh that reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously, and the countless other little things that we celebrate on Mother’s Day.

    Matthew 6:19–21 NASB95
    “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
    No scrapbooks back then and paper had not been invented. No digital photo albums either. Those things are nice but they can be burned in a fire or stolen. The godly character that you instill in your children will never be taken away. Being a mom is like depositing money in a savings account every day because you are investing in generations who meet you in heaven.
    Kids look at this next verse. This is for you this morning. The best way to honor your mom is to obey her.

    Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.

    Assignment for Men/Kids:
    Make a list of 31 things your wife does for you and the family that you seldom thank her for. Make a point of thanking her specifically for one on each day of the coming month. On each day of the following month pay her a new compliment on one of her good attitudes, character qualities, habits or talents. And be prepared for a better relationship than you've enjoyed in quite a while.
