    like Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Steven, James, etc. Many of the recent ones would have been martyred by this time.
    Think about all those who have faithfully taught you the Bible.
    I think of my first Sunday school teacher as an 8 year old boy at the Sterling Grace Brethren Church in Sterling, OH. Her name was Mary and she shared the gospel with me faithfully.

    8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
    This has been taken out of context without limit.
    Different in name but the same in person and power. He is the same in His existence (He has intellect, will, emotion and will continue in His existence). He is the same in relationship (He has always been the second person of the trinity and always will be).
    Empires rise and fall. Leaders in politics and industry rise and fall. Jesus is the only unchangeable person.
    They were to worship Jesus the Christ and He is the same person as He was in the OT as He is in the NT and will continue to remain the same, God Himself, in the future.

    9 Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.
    We are to be strengthened by the inner grace of God rather than legalistic requirements of religion. Religion substitutes ornate buildings for awe of what Jesus has done on the cross. It substitutes ceremony for the power and joy of the Holy Spirit. It substitutes food restrictions for spiritual nourishment.

    17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
    Catholic Law — In recognition of Friday as the day of the crucifixion, canon law calls for abstinence from eating meat on all Fridays of the year (see Canon 1251).  The bishops of the United States have determined that outside of the Fridays of Lent, Catholics may choose to substitute another penance that is particularly meaningful to them, although they continue to recommend abstinence on all Fridays for Catholics.

    Alter — Communion Table? No. To re-sacrifice Christ is to deny His once for all sacrifice.

    Point? — Jesus went outside of the religious system to pay for our sins so that His sacrifice was not part of the religious system but outside of it. All believers should follow Christ then and not the religious system.

    14 For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the one to come.
    Like the great saints of chapter 11, our hope and even the hope of the Jewish people is not ultimately in the earthly Jerusalem, but the heavenly Jerusalem.

    obey and yield to them as they proclaim the truth of God’s word to you.
    Because they are spiritually responsible before God for you.
    Because if you don’t it will make the whole process unpleasant for them and…
