    Transitional Statement: 3 Essentials to Living properly in the New Covenant.

    I. Through Prayer

    Hebrews 13:18 LSB
    18 Pray for us, for we are convinced that we have a good conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves well in all things.
    The writer of Hebrews understood the importance of prayer which is why he commands these saints to intercede for him and his team.
    He also knew that to be a good leader, who was to be obeyed as an under-shepherd of Jesus, he needed prayer.
    This team was apparently under arrest. When he states that “we have a good conscience” he is saying that they are innocent of the charges brought against them. There is nothing that is nagging his conscience or inwardly convicting him. They were ministering with sterling behavior of the highest standard and so their consciences were clean. We should all minister this way for the Lord Jesus.
    Conscience is the inward light, informed by God’s Word, that judges our actions, words, and thoughts as right or wrong.
    This is the way to live. We should live in such a way that our conscience does not condemn us. Even if we have done wrong, we should confess it to Him immediately. If your conscience is bothering you today, you can confess it to God right now and know that He forgives you.

    19 And I urge you all the more to do this, so that I may be restored to you the sooner.
    Because of this free conscience, he asks for urgent prayer to be released from prison and restored back to the church for further ministry.
    Prayer is the bedrock of any ministry. We must understand that if we are make a difference in this world for Jesus Christ, then we must ask Jesus to work.

    II. Through Power

    20 Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus,

    21 equip you in every good thing to do His will, by doing in us what is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
    It is God who is at work in us. He equips us and He accomplishes His work in us.

    Our responsibility is to surrender to and walk in submission to His Spirit.

    Exhortation — He was preaching a sermon! He explained the supremacy of Christ, exalting Jesus to His proper place of worship and establishing His authority as our Great High Priest of the new covenant. Our identity is defined only through Him. And, since Jesus is our High Priest, how should we live as a result?

    A prayerful benediction that they would experience, in real measure, the unmerited favor of God. This is extended to us who read and study this book.
    A warm, loving ending to the greatest treatise of Jesus Christ in the Bible.
