CALL TO CONFESSION                                 Rev. Kyle Anderson

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O Christ,

when the crowds surrounded you, hungry for

   bread and for your word,

you took an offering—five loaves, two fish—

and made for them a feast.

Still, O Lord, we doubt the abundance of your grace.

Still, O Lord, we are hesitant to share the gifts we have.

Still, O Lord, we wonder whether there is enough for all.

Forgive us, O God, and make of us a more

   generous people.

Empower us to share the gift of our lives,

and enlighten us to see the miracles around us.

For you are the giver of grace upon grace,

the one who turns want into plenty.

COMPASSION CAMP:  Session 1  “All Around Me”

Compassion Jumps into action! By jumping into action, we help ease someone’s hurt because we have seen and empathized with how they feel. As we practice identifying and naming our own emotions, we are able to recognize them better in others. Participants will also see there are opportunities all around us to act with compassion and to receive it as well. Through Miriam’s story, the participants will learn the central principles of empathy and compassion. Participants will learn that when we cultivate compassion within ourselves and each other, compassion ripples out to others.
