*CALL TO WORSHIP                                        Alice Bailey, Lector

Let us worship God, our source of life.

God awakens us from the dust of the earth.

Let us worship God, our sovereign protector.

God is at our right hand, and we shall not be moved.

Let us worship God with hearts that are glad,

for in God’s presence there is fullness of joy.

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

You are the God of all people, O Lord,

the creator of all things good.

Forgive us when we fail to see the good.

Forgive us when we refuse to see the “all.”

We are searching for your presence and

   grasping for your grace,

unable to believe that we cannot be separated

   from your love.

Forgive us, God of mercy,

   and through Christ our redeemer,

   free us to try again.

ST. JAMES BOOK CLUB  is currently reading “Unsheltered” by Barbara Kingsolver. “Unsheltered” is the compulsively readable story of two families, in two centuries, who live at the corner of Sixth and Plum in Vineland, New Jersey, navigating what seems to be the end of the world as they know it. With history as their tantalizing canvas, these characters paint a startlingly relevant portrait of life in precarious times when the foundations of the past have failed to prepare us for the future.

We will be meeting tomorrow Monday, November 15th at 7:00pm.

Email tracy@saintjamespres.org for the Zoom link.

Books are available in the church office.

ADVENT DECORATING WORK PARTY

Advent is quickly approaching, which means it's time to get our building looking festive and bright! Join us after service at 12:00 pm on Sunday, November 21st, to dust off the Advent ornaments and decorate our sanctuary. Hot cider will be provided!

JOIN US FOR A NEW ADVENT SERIES

“Advent calendars come in all shapes and sizes but what they have in common is a daily rhythm of anticipatory reflection. Biola's Center for Christianity, Culture, and the Arts offers a FREE online Advent Project designed to help you pause each day to reflect on the beauty and meaning of the season. Each day of the Advent Project features a Scripture passage, a devotion written by a member of the Biola community, a work of visual art, a poem, and a piece of music. Our prayer is that in the midst of these challenging times, the Advent Project will help ground you in the unsurpassable beauty, mystery, and miracle of the Word made flesh.”

We will meet each Sunday at 9am, beginning December 5th to discuss the devotions via zoom. Click the link below to sign up to receive your daily devotionals.  https://ccca.biola.edu/events/2021/nov/28/advent-project-2021/

MULTIFAITH NETWORK FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE

Participate in the “Net of Interconnectedness,” being hosted here at St. James from Sunday, November 7th through Saturday, November 20. During this time you may add your hopes and prayers for this planet and all of its inhabitants by writing them down on colorful donated strips of material which can then be added to the net. You may also collect and email prayers and thoughts to nairbnosnhoj@gmail.com to be added. The net will be on display in the narthex.

Due to the timely coinciding, we ask that you especially consider the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference taking place October 31 through November 12 in Glasgow, Scotland, as a focal point of your heart and your written prayers, thoughts, and expressions.
