PRELUDE                                                      Luke Arnold

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS                       Rev. Kyle Anderson

*CALL TO WORSHIP                               Jenny Sue LeSchander, Lector

Come! Behold the reign of Christ,

like the sun rising on a cloudless morning,

gleaming from the dew on the grassy land.

Come! Behold the reign of Christ,

a power that shall not pass away

and a love that will never be destroyed.

We belong to the reign of Christ,

the Alpha and Omega,

who was, and is, and is to come.

*HYMN OF PRAISE         “Come, Christians, Join to Sing” – GTG #267

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O Holy One,

you showed us what it means to live by your reign:

   sharing food with the hungry,

   freedom with the imprisoned,

   justice with the oppressed,

   and joy with the sorrowful.

We ask your forgiveness, O God,

for all the ways we fail to live as people who

   belong to your reign.

Show us once more what our belonging means,

for you are the beginning, you are the end,

   and, in every time between,

you fill our lives with grace.

ASSURANCE OF GOD’S GRACE

GODLY PLAY:  Jonah the Backward Prophet

The Godly Play room will open at 10:15am for songs and memory verse time, with the lesson starting at 10:35am. Students will be brought back to the service for the last hymn.

JOIN US FOR A NEW ADVENT SERIES

“Advent calendars come in all shapes and sizes but what they have in common is a daily rhythm of anticipatory reflection. Biola's Center for Christianity, Culture, and the Arts offers a FREE online Advent Project designed to help you pause each day to reflect on the beauty and meaning of the season. Each day of the Advent Project features a Scripture passage, a devotion written by a member of the Biola community, a work of visual art, a poem, and a piece of music. Our prayer is that in the midst of these challenging times, the Advent Project will help ground you in the unsurpassable beauty, mystery, and miracle of the Word made flesh.”

We will meet each Sunday at 9am, beginning December 5th to discuss the devotions via zoom. Click the link below to sign up to receive your daily devotionals. https://ccca.biola.edu/events/2021/nov/28/advent-project-2021/
