CALL TO WORSHIP                                 Jenny Sue LeSchander

Do not be afraid:

God hears our cries when we are lost.

Do not be afraid:

God does not leave us abandoned.

Do not be afraid:

God is with us, now and always.

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Gracious God,

we try to follow your word:

 to put others above ourselves,

to remember that we are all bound together

 as your beloved children,

to seek the common good instead of our own interests.

But it is so easy for our lesser selves to get the better of us.

We succumb to jealousy, vindictiveness,

 callousness, and indifference.

In your mercy, send your healing

 to those we have hurt,

and to our own misguided souls

so that we may follow you once more.

ASSURANCE OF GOD’S GRACE

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

And also with you.

Announcements

GODLY PLAY: Work Day

A work day is a Sunday when the students don't hear a story. During our typical Sunday morning time, there is often not enough time for some of our art responses or to explore all they want to in the classroom so we have work days where the children are able to more fully engage in the "Play" part of Godly Play.

We hope you will join us at 10:15am for songs and memory verse time in the lounge. At 10:30, children will go downstairs to Godly Play, and adults will go upstairs to worship. Students will be brought upstairs for the final hymn.

LECTIONARY TEXTS

For anyone wishing to study the lectionary texts this week,

June 25, the Lectionary texts are:

Matthew 10:24-39 (worship)

Psalm 86:1-10, 16-17 (sermon)

Genesis 21:8-21

Romans 6:1b-11

YOUTH GROUP - TONIGHT

Inviting all middle and high school students to join us this evening Sunday, June 25th from 5:30-7:30pm for our monthly dinner, discussion, and games night. Please let Tracy know if you can come or if you have any questions. Any donations toward dinner are greatly appreciated and will be added to any future youth group meetings.

BOOK CLUB

St. James book club is currently reading To the Bright Edge of the World, by Eowyn Ivey. It is an atmospheric, transporting tale of adventure, love, and survival. Copies of the book are available in the office. We will meet, Monday July 17th, at 7:00pm via zoom. Contact Tracy for the zoom link.

MISSION & SOCIAL ACTION

Please give generously to the Pentecost Offering which helps guide young people in Christian formation from their early years to adulthood. 40% of our collection stays with our congregation to support local ministries with children, youth, and young adults. The other 60% supports young adult volunteers serving in communities around the world, youth ministries like Presbyterian Youth Triennium, and to improve education for at-risk youth. You can give through the St. James website with the drop down tab for Pentecost offering, or in the collection envelopes that will be distributed in your bulletin on the 18th and collected on the 25th. You may also give online pcusa.org/donatepentecost. Thank you for prayerfully considering a donation.

BELLINGHAM PRIDE FESTIVAL

We hope everyone will come and enjoy all the different events at this years Pride Festival on Saturday and Sunday July 8th and 9th! St. James will again be hosting a table at the Bellingham Pride Festival on Sunday July 9th, and we need volunteers to be at the table with shifts beginning at 9:45am and ending at 5:30pm. If you can help for an hour or two during that time, please let the office or Tracy know.

ST. JAMES AT THE BELLINGHAM BELLS

St. James has a group of tickets to the Bellingham Bells baseball game on Sunday July 16th @ 1:00pm. If you would like to attend with your fellow St. James crew, tickets are $13 each in the grandstand (shade!).  Please see Tracy if you are interested in purchasing tickets.
