A Message from Pastor Scott
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
The apostle Paul told the church in Corinth that the church is like a person; one body with many different parts. Those parts are supposed to work together in both the Church Universal (the church at all times and in all places) and within the local church to sustain the body and to move the church forward in its mission.
As we are coming out of COVID and making plans for the fall and beyond, we need to get the body back in shape. That means exercising some of the muscles that haven't been used in their normal ways and so they function at a high level and fill the roles they were designed to fill. We need eyes with vision, ears that are listening for needs and opportunities, we need hands that can reach out in love and hands that are willing to get dirty.
Each fall our church puts together a slate of nominations to fill different committee, leadership, and ministry roles within our local church. This year, in addition to coming out of the COVID season we also have a new Lead Pastor at First Church. This means we have the double challenge of not fully knowing who is still to return to our community and our pastor not knowing the strengths and giftings even of the people who have already returned.
I want to call each of you to pray on these matters. 1) Please pray for the Nominations committee as they meet to discuss and discern who God is calling to serve in these varied roles. 2) Please pray for those who will continue in their already elected roles. And 3) Please pray and ask God if there is a leadership, committee, or ministry role that He wants you to fill in this new season. If you sense God nudging you to serve and you'd like to talk about the possibilities of what that could look like, you can email me at email@example.com and we'll set a time to talk about those things together.
It takes all of us using the gifts and graces that God has given us to move the church forward in mission and ministry and to be the church God has called us to be.
