  • John 20:19–25 NKJV
19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” 24 Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”

    1. Fear is sometimes caused by the facts!

    John 20:19 NKJV
19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
They heard or saw the witness of the risen Christ, but they also saw the realities of the beaten and Crucified Christ.
The only time Satan tells the truth is when he can scare you.
fear did not enter the world until sin broke the trust man had in God.
Satan promised to be like God and delivered fear.
    Genesis 3:2–5 NKJV
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” 4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
    Genesis 3:10 NKJV
10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
Adam was afraid of the God that created him?
    how did that fear happen?
    he bought the lie!

How many believers are living under a lie?

How many of us are living under a lie?

    2. The whole truth will stand under examination. A lie never will!

    John 20:20 NKJV
20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
This is why Jesus appeared to the disciples. so they could touch and see that the Lord lived.
He lives not just in a metaphysical (spiritual) sense but the reality is physical tangible.
I told the men this weekend that I will never understand why Adam did not tell satan to stay around till the Lord showed up, when i read that passage in Gen 3, for some reason I get the general idea that the Lord made it a habit to fellowship with Adam and Eve. I will never understand why they didn’t just wait on God to show up.
because a lie cannot stand in the face of the truth.
The Lie about God can stand in the face of truth.
The Lie about you cannot stand in the face of God’s truth!
Don’t Let the lie produce fear, that causes the power of agreement that makes it self fulfilling.

    3. While the Jews may have wanted to persecute the disciples Jesus offered them peace, and purpose.

    John 20:19 NKJV
19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
    John 20:21–23 NKJV
21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
our Lord tells then twice in three verse “peace to you”.
the first one comes as he appears to them.
The second peace to you comes after He shows them the proof in His physical body.
    John 14:27 NKJV
27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
He told them “As the Father sent me, I also send you.” With this He commissions them to go.
