Isaiah 9:6 NKJV 6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Introduction:Life is just difficult sometimes— even though Christmas is the same time every year, sometimes our year did not leave us as prepared as we would like. Others of us are dealing with health issues. still others of us are trying to survive. Today we remember that we serve the Prince of Peace. Join me this morning on a journey into the peace of the Lord.Transition phrase: lets learn about one of His titlesJesus- The Prince of Peace.Shalom (Isaiah 9:6) — Shalom means wholeness and complete well-being—nothing missing and nothing broken. It is the peace that brings strength and safety, inner calm and contentment, harmony in relationships, and a restored closeness with God. Shalom is God’s peace over every circumstance, the kind of life and rest that only the Prince of Peace can give.Sar-Shalom (the prince of peace) came to bring peace to the world. He came to bring real peace in the world.Jesus models peace in the face of chaos. He models peace in the midst of the storm.Mark 4:35–41 NKJV 35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”He models peace during His trial.Mark 14:56–61 NKJV 56 For many bore false witness against Him, but their testimonies did not agree. 57 Then some rose up and bore false witness against Him, saying, 58 “We heard Him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.’ ” 59 But not even then did their testimony agree. 60 And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, saying, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” 61 But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”He Modeled peace to the disciples after the resurrection.John 20:19–21 NKJV 19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”Transition statement: As with every part of His life The Lord is an example to us. The peace He came to give is not like the peace the world has to offer.Jesus gave us His peace.John 14:27 NKJV 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. The worlds peace. The world offers peace according to what it has to offer.it offers money, but money leaves faster than it comes. The world offers success- however success seams to be a moving target. The world offers “love” most of what the world calls love is actually lust. lust can be defined in many ways— the food, can be lusted for. Status can be lusted for. Power can be lusted for. Theologically Lust is a selfish desire for the things that God has provided for in a balanced peaceful life. The peace that comes from the prince of peace. It’s not at all the same as the world gives. The peace the price of peace gives is based on knowing that He said I will never leave you or forsake you!!Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV 6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”Hebrews 13:5 NKJV 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”If you have a need He will provide it.Philippians 4:19 NKJV 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.if you are lonely He is the friend that is closer than a brother!Proverbs 18:24 NKJV 24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. If you need a healing, He is a healer.Malachi 4:2 NKJV 2 But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves. We bring His peace to the world.Philippians 4:6–7 NKJV 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. His peace guards our hearts and minds.in this way, when the world around us is chaos— we can respond from the well of His spirit inside of you.Maybe you have come today, maybe the pressures of the season or just life have stolen your peace— Here is good news; you. don’t go to the one who stole it from you— you go to the one who gaveConclusionBrothers and Sisters, If you are here today and peace has eluded you— Pastor Wilkes and the prayer team is here to meet and minister to you.
