John 11:33–44 NKJV 33 Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. 34 And He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus wept. 36 Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!” 37 And some of them said, “Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?” 38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.” 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”Introduction:Last week we saw that revelation exposes blindness. This week we see that revelation produces resistance.Lazarus is not just a miracle story — it is the turning point.Jesus waited.Lazarus was dead four days.Four days means final.Four days means no hope.Four days means beyond intervention.Jesus does not come early — He comes decisively. When resurrection power becomes undeniable, opposition becomes inevitable. This is where the road to the cross becomes unavoidableIt’s all over, our is it?Lazarus i dead.Mary and Martha are in trouble their voice in society is over, your provision is gone and Jesus waited four days to get here all hope is gone.why is all hope gone? Because there is a Jewish tradition, not scripture but tradition says that the sole lingers. The New Testament tells us to be absent from the body is present with the Lord.2 Corinthians 5:6–8 NKJV 6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.this is to show that Jesus is the Lord of life, he is the Lord over death. The mourners are there running about and grieving, Jesus shows up on the scene. Before we go any further I need to ask you a question, is there something you think is dead that just hasn't been resurrected yet.Proverbs 3:5–6 NKJV 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.don’t try to think about what needs to be reselected. Lean into the Lord. Ask him to help your doubt and let the Lord touch your life. The Lord Jesus resurrects us, then we learn to live in the freedom.Jesus wept, so he was not devoid of emotion. He has the stone rolled away.he calls Lazarus by name out of the grave and he comes out bound hand and feet. The disciples life is about coming out of the grave. The head scarf blocks our vision. Our hands being bound in will hinder our expression of Him in the world; our ministry. Our feet being bound effects the expression of Him in our loves; our walk. Not changing our clothes keeps our past alive when it should be dead.Resurrection Forces a DecisionJohn 11:45–53 (reference it even if you don’t read it all)“From that day on they plotted to put Him to death.”This is the theological hinge of the chapter.Lazarus is not just a miracle.Lazarus is a verdict. When Jesus raises the dead, neutrality disappears. Some believe. Others harden.Revelation demands response. The Theology for This WeekHere is your theological truth:When God reveals His glory, hearts either surrender or resist. The Pharisees were not confused. They were threatened. They say:“If we let Him alone… the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.” (John 11:48)Notice the fear:Our place. Our position. Our nation. Our control. They are protecting structure.Jesus is revealing glory. This is where the road to Good Friday becomes inevitable. The Cross is not a surprise. It is the result of hardened hearts confronted with undeniable glory.Everyday ApplicationNow bring it home.Resurrection still forces decisions. When God moves:You either worship.Or you protect what you’re afraid to lose.Sometimes the resistance in our lives isn’t intellectual. It’s protective. We don’t resist because we don’t see.We resist because we see what it will cost. That’s where Palm Sunday is headed. That’s where Good Friday is born.ConclusionLazarus walked out of the grave. But someone else would walk into one.Jesus did not raise Lazarus to avoid death. He raised Lazarus knowing it would accelerate His own. That is love. That is authority. That is redemption.Revelation exposed blindness.Resurrection created resistance. But resistance could not stop redemption. The same Lord who called Lazarus outis moving toward a Crosswhere He will give Himselfso that we may live. The question is not whether Jesus has power. The question is what we will do when He reveals it.John 11:33–44NKJV
