  • Today, we look for a cure to corona virus and an end to injustice and police brutality while at the same time calling for an end to the violent victimization of business owners and people just driving down the freeway.
    I also know the covid-19 is a novel or new virus but racism, injustice, oppression and murder are extremely old.
    George Floyd’s death is new but bullying and violence from people in authority is not
    Riots in big cities is new, the death of Patrick Underwood in Oakland is new but the response to violence with more hatred and violence is not.

    Is there a cure?

    I had a friend who took a mission trip to Brazil.
    According to the United Nations Today, most Brazilians of all colours acknowledge that there is racial prejudice and discrimination in the country.
    racial inequality is high and that racial discrimination in the labour market and other spheres of Brazilian society is common. Non-whites are major victims of human rights abuses, including widespread police violence. On average, black and brown (mulatto or mixed race) Brazilians earn half of the income of the white population.
    Most notably, the middle class and the elite are almost entirely white, so that Brazil's well-known melting pot only exists among the working class and the poor. Non-white Brazilians were rarely found in the country's top universities, until affirmative action began in 2001.
    Even in Brazil the color of the skin is excuse to divide.
    In Burma for years the people lived under an oppressive military dictatorship. And then a Nobel Peace Prize winning activist led the peaceful overthrow and establishment of a democracy
    Then that same “peace winning activist” allowed the military to kill the minirty people in Burma, the Rohyniga people. It is genocide.
    The same government of supposed liberation shoots, hunts down, and kills those who are part of the Rohyinga people simply because they exist.
    This week Hong Kong loses its freedom from the one country two systems and now those in Hong Kong are under threat for expressing difference of opinion from the government. There protests have been in hymns and occupation and soon likely these people will be under threat of communist prison camps.

    I’m praying that the Lord does not let these words I share today be just words you think are like a eulogy, something nice to hear but you just then keep on going.

    Proverbs 31:8–9 CSB
    8 Speak up for those who have no voice, for the justice of all who are dispossessed. 9 Speak up, judge righteously, and defend the cause of the oppressed and needy.
    God himself, showed us what these verses look like, what is means to live them in real life, When God became a human, just like you and me

    God himself chose to come to earth as a person in a lowly position

    He became a Jew 2000 years ago, when the Jews were under the rule of an illegitimate and wicked king, who was so diabolical that this king killed his own family when he thought they were threatening him.
    Jesus was born while the Jews were under the rule of the Roman Empire with no citizenship and no possibility of improving the political climate.
    Jesus allowed himself to become part of the oppressed.
    Horrible things happen when your oppressed
    Jesus as a baby was forced to become a refugee fleeing from government oppression
    Jesus was poor. born into a poor family we know that because his parents could only give the cheaper offering when he was born.
    It is guessed that only the gifts of the wise men allowed the family enough money to flee from the wicked king and return from Egypt only after that wicked king died, and his slightly less wicked children began to rule.
    When Jesus began his ministry. Jesus taught and defended himself from those who were in power.
    Those who were themselves oppressed threatened him with the oppression of the Romans in charge.
    And in the end Jesus allowed the oppressive government to crucify him on a cross.
    everything Jesus spoke does not come from a position of privilege yet, as the creator of the universe He is the most privileged in all things.

    It is in this that we see how to approach our lives and injustice
    Philippians 2:5–9 CSB
    5 Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus, 6 who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited. 7 Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man, 8 he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross. 9 For this reason God highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name,
    Jesus came alongside the oppressed and even among the oppressed people he still went to the even smaller group of the traitors, those who were treated poorly, women, and the sick.
    We don’t see Jesus saying, “I chose you because you were good.” Jesus doesn’t acknowledged any talent, any ability of fame, He just loves
    Jesus came to save us from sin, from the evil that so easily destructs
    Yet today and for much of our history people have chose to claim the name of Jesus and only valued others when they could get something using the institution of the church to oppress, enslave, profit and destroy people.
    As I said last week, Jesus came to the hurting and united us under his love.
    Right unites, Right loves, Right sows like a seed and gives birth to righteousness
    It still happens, as I said last week, the temptation of sin is to use anything to divide.
    Because we are not right, I am not perfect, yet Jesus came to heal, to unite, and instead of coming to Him perfect we, became followers of Jesus as broken people and slowly, sometimes with quick jumps and mostly with slow obedience, like a seed to a tree He is making us better than we ever knew possible.
    2 Corinthians 5:17 CSB
    17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!
    But what are we being made into?
    After Jesus rose again, God the Holy Spirit was given to those who follow Jesus and any who came after including me and any here who follow Jesus.
    And then jesus returned to the father, when he returns this will all be over. Whatever day and time that occurs, in the meantime God calls on all of us to do just as he did.
    Matthew 28:19–20 CSB
    19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
    He is with us and we are to be like Him with others.
    The real work of overcoming hatred, bigotry, racism, is found in surrendering to Christ Jesus to accepting His forgiveness and in that getting to forgive those who have wronged you.
    Jesus told us this is the mark of those who are true.
    John 14:23–26 CSB
    23 Jesus answered, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 The one who doesn’t love me will not keep my words. The word that you hear is not mine but is from the Father who sent me. 25 “I have spoken these things to you while I remain with you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.
    The Holy Spirit, God himself, is teaching you what uniting love looks like
    With that comes the power through the Holy Spirit, who Jesus told us would guide us and he does to love those not like you, to go just as Jesus did, after them, to take the time to sit in the political meetings, to take the slow time to teach children the Bible and how to grow in Jesus, to do right when everyone else is doing what benefits them, to go beyond consuming what Jesus has to offer and start taking Jesus to people.
    These ideas of good are not just you having the idea of doing nice things, these are good works made by the Holy Spirit for you.
    Ephesians 2:10 CSB
    10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.
