    Mt 7:24–27 NKJV
    24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

    Everyone has opinions

    Opinions are shaped
    ++By the narrative of our life
    ++By experiences good and bad
    In this text Jesus says something about himself.

    These words of Mine have power

    The spoken word
    ++Healed the centurion servant
    ++Calmed the sea
    ++Brought Lazarus from the dead
    Hebrews 1:1–2 NKJV
    1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

    God is still speaking

    In the past God spoke
    ++To the father's
    ++By the prophets
    Now God speaks
    ++To us
    ++By His Son
    In His life
    ++Few recognized him
    ++His own didn't receive him
    John 1:10-14... but to those who believe, he empowered them to be sons of God
    John 1:10–12 NKJV
    10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

    All they had to do was believe.

    Why is believing so hard?

    Believing acknowledges the distance between hearing and doing.

    Believing is and act of faith

    Faith
    ++Acknowledges new realities
    ++Recognized the limits of our perceptions
    ++Taps into the unseen world
    ++Fills the gap
    Genesis 15:6 NKJV
    6 And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

    Where does faith come from?

    Romans 10:17 NKJV
    17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
    Romans 10:14 NKJV
    14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

    Faith is not a natural life force

    Mankind was created
    ++In the image of God
    ++For communion and fellowship with God
    ++With the knowledge of God
    ++With a divine connection to God

    Faith was not needed to know God

    Romans 1:18–21 NKJV
    18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
    Man was created with a connection to this world.
    ++To See
    ++To Hear
    ++To Touch
    ++To Taste
    ++To Smell

    Sin broke the divine connection

    Jesus has come to restore the connection

    John 1:1–2 NKJV
    1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.
    John 1:14 NKJV
    14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
    Jesus is described as the Word
    ++Which was not created
    ++The Foundation of Creation
    John 1:3 NKJV
    3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

    Faith comes with the word.

    Ephesians 2:8–10 NKJV
    8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
    This life deals to us difficult lessons.
    ++Storms of struggle
    ++Floods of failure
    ++Rains of rejection

    But God is still speaking

    Creation hears His voice

    The winds and the waves are subject to Him

    We must close the gap

    Romans 1:17 NKJV
    17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
    Matthew 7:24–27 NKJV
    24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell.
