    Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
    Galatians 1:11–12 NKJV
    But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
    Galatians 2:19–21 NKJV
    For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
    The Book of Galatians addresses some fundamental questions.

    The Law the Old Testament

    ++Moral and ceremonial distinctions
    ++Offered a blessing in compliance

    Exodus 19:5 NKJV
    5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.
    Exodus 19:8 NKJV
    8 Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” So Moses brought back the words of the people to the Lord.

    The old covenant made their activity the litmus test of a relationship with God.

    They would be to God

    It was a conditional declaration

    They were called to

    ++Keep the covenant of God

    The people agreed to the terms

    Legal compliance
    ++Connected people to God
    ++Was the measuring tool
    Was used to determine
    ++Who was righteous
    ++The true believe
    Deuteronomy 28:1–2 NKJV
    1 “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:

    Israel’s blessing was connected to Israels compliance.

    Paul was committed to this ideal

    Philippians 3:4–6 NKJV
    4 ... If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
    In the flesh he had a Godly heritage
    ++Hebrew of Hebrews
    ++A Pharisee concerning the law
    ++Justified by the righteousness of the law
    ++Law abiding citizen
    Galatians 2:16 NKJV
    16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
    We know we are justified
    ++Not by the works of the law
    ++By faith in Jesus Christ
    This is Grace
    ++God’s Favor expressed
    ++Not because we earned it
    ++Not because we deserved it
    Philippians 3:8–9 NKJV
    8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
    Here Paul makes a distinction between
    ++Righteousness from the law
    ++Righteousness through faith
    Righteousness from the law
    ++All about him
    ++His behaviour
    ++His activity
    ++His own righteousness
    The Righteousness through faith
    ++Is only found in Christ
    ++Is the righteousness of God

    When Christ is revealed We find the Grace in Jesus Christ

    Galatians 1:3–4 NKJV
    3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
    Christ gave himself
    ++For Our Sins
    ++For our deliverance
    ++To fulfill God’s will
    Because of this grace
    ++They had a newfound freedom
    ++They were walking in victory
    ++They were living for God

    When Christ is revealed We find the Gospel of Jesus Christ

    The Gospel declares
    ++This grace is for everyone
    ++You cannot earn it by works
    ++You can receive it by faith

    When Christ is revealed We find new perspective

    Galatians 1:11–12 NKJV

    Jesus makes the difference

    He was

    11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

    Romans 5:8 NKJV
    8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

    When Christ is revealed We respond differently

    Galatians 2:20 NKJV
    20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
    To be crucified with Christ is to

    ++Recognized His love
    ++Value the price He paid for me
    ++Live for him
