    1 Timothy 3:14–16 ESV
    14 I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that, 15 if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth. 16 Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

    Paul Encourages Timothy

    His desire is to come to him.
    He is also aware of the challenges

    Paul writes with purpose

    Don’t wait on me
    ++Know what is right
    ++Do what is right
    1 Timothy 4:12–16 ESV
    12 Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. 14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. 15 Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress. 16 Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.
    Be an example

    Use what you have.
    ++What you have is enough
    ++What you have is valuable
    ++Do not neglect it.
    The Church is important
    ++It is the pillar of truth
    ++It is the buttress the ground of truth

    Paul connects the truth with the life of Christ

    The Life of Christ is The Mystery of Godliness

    In His life was Revelation

    Luke 2:47 ESV
    47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
    Luke 2:52 ESV
    52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.

    In His life was Revelation

    In His life was Restoration

    Luke 19:10 ESV
    10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
    John 1:11–13 ESV
    11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

    In His life was Restoration

    In His Life was Redemption

    Romans 3:23–24 ESV
    23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
    Galatians 4:4–5 ESV
    4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
