BAPTISM: Today we have the privilege of witnessing the baptism of Shyla Janet Hiemstra, daughter of Paul and Carissa. We pray for God’s blessings on this covenant family.

FROM THE COUNCIL:

• Give thanks for our dedicated church staff who keep operations running smoothly: Marv and Karen Apol, Pastor Ken Boonstra, Pam Korthuis, Elaine Vos and Sherry Vos.

• Pray that we can be inspired to be a shining light to lift up our friends and neighbors when we see uncertainty and despair around us.

• Pray for: Gary and Sally Hiemstra; Darin, Niki, Jake, Sam, Katie and Mike De Young; Chad Drost, Gene and Dorothy Greenough.

NEWS FROM ADMINISTRATION TEAM:

• Pastor Ken will conclude his time as our interim pastor the end of February and we remain thankful for his months of service. The Boonstra’s house in Bellingham will soon be finished and they look forward to moving and settling in. Pray for the Bethel council as they line up pulpit supply and reach out to other potential interim pastors. Continue to pray for the work of the Pastor Search Committee—we expect a congregational update soon.

• The narthex refresh project is going well and on schedule. Thank you for your patience during the update.

• The families in the SHINE and Quilt houses are very appreciative of the warm, dry homes they are living in. There remains much uncertainty as they navigate the trail of insurance and FEMA paperwork. Please keep Grant and Shawna, Dexter and Jennifer, and their families in your prayers.

• This church is only able to function through the work of its many volunteers. Thank you for being a congregation that so willingly “steps up” to the needs we present. The Admin Team is finalizing an updated resource questionnaire to facilitate the matching of needs and gifts in our congregation. Until that is ready, please consider helping with these immediate needs:

Van Drivers: There is a need for at least one more couple to drive the church van on Sunday mornings. Drivers serve for one month at time, three or four times a year.

Van replacement task force: The church van is nearing retirement. We need 2 or 3 people to research alternatives for replacement and make a recommendation to the Admin Team.
