FROM SHADOW TO SUBSTANCE: WHERE HEAVEN MEETS EARTH

For Lent this year we are turning back to the book of Exodus and considering God’s instructions for the tabernacle. This building was designed by God as a place where He could meet His people and dwell in their midst—the first such place since the Garden of Eden and the Fall. The tabernacle functions in several ways: it echoes Eden, it is a shadow of a heavenly reality, and it points ahead to the work and ministry of Jesus and His church. Through this study, I hope we will all come to see the beauty of this part of the Scriptures, how great the work of Christ and His redemption are, and raise our eyes to the heavens in worship. ~ Pastor Bryan

POTLUCK: The care community group of Marv Apol and Cheri Rutgers is hosting a potluck in the basement following this morning’s service. Please join us if you are visiting!

COMBINED SERVICE: Bethel will host the combined CRC prayer service for crops and industry next Sunday, March 15 at 6 pm. Nursery will be provided and coffee and cookies will be served afterwards. The offering will be taken for Growing Hope Globally, an organization whose vision helps subsistence farmers in developing countries grow their own food and earn an income. Currently they support 49 programs in 31 countries. Specifically, our offering will be used to support the Uganda Rubanda program run by World Renew. For more information, visit the website: growinghopeglobally.org

BETHEL’S 75th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION will be on October 10 & 11 2026. Save the Date! We will enjoy dinner and a program on Saturday evening and a special worship service on Sunday. More details to follow as we will be collecting memories, photos, or other memorabilia. If you have any questions or suggestions, contact Jacob & Donna Steiger, Doug & Norene Van Andel, or David & Elaine Vos.

ADVANCE NOTICE: Bethel church picnic at Berthusen Park, June 28.

REMODEL NEWS:

• Our fireside room/library remodel project will start tomorrow, March 9. Volunteers are needed for Monday and Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday, for demolition work, removing wall sheetrock and opening the walls in the fireside room. We will work on framing for the new windows in that area the remainder of the week. John Schouten could use 1-2 men who know a little about framing to help. The next phase of the demolition will proceed next week, March 16-20. Please contact Randy Knutzen or John Schouten if you are available for any of this work so John knows how much help to plan on.

• To prepare for the remodel project the Admin team is reimagining the library. We are inviting the congregation to please look through the books and DVDs the next two weeks and take home any you wish to keep. We would be delighted to see all these items find a home within our congregation.

• The remodel task force is wondering if anyone from church would like to have the stove from the upstairs kitchen. If interested, please contact Jill Sipma. Items removed from the kitchen cupboards are on the library table and are yours to take.
