WE EXTEND OUR CHRISTIAN SYMPATHY to Ken and Jan Herwerden in the passing of Jan’s sister, Greta Einfeld of Lynden and to John and Jane Schouten in the passing of John’s brother, Claire, of Bellingham.
REFORMED ROOTS: This week we are considering the place of good works. We live in a culture where we regularly hear the phrase, "I try to be a good person." Is this enough to save? Tonight we will look at what the Bible and the Heidelberg teach about our good works and where our security is found.
WE ARE GRATEFUL that another year of Sunday School concluded this morning. Thank you to our children’s superintendent Glenda Elgersma who also taught grades K-2, Marcia Mulder (grades 3-5), Bev Nunnikhoven (grades 6-8), Pastor Bryan (grades 9-12) and to Ed Ball who led the adult class. A special thank you to Marcia and the bell choir whose music blessed our worship services. Glenda will be teaching Liturgy class in the next several weeks with presentation of Bibles to follow later this spring.
CHILDREN AND WORSHIP: Today is the last Sunday for Children & Worship before we break for the summer. It’s been a privilege to teach these children and worship with them downstairs, and we look forward to starting up again in the fall. Thanks so much to all the teachers and helpers who volunteered and made Children & Worship possible!
GEMS TACO NIGHT FUNDRAISER DINNER is tomorrow, May 4 from 5-7 pm in the church basement. Donations will be accepted for our Bethel GEMS program.
TUESDAY MORNING LADIES’ BIBLE STUDY will finish the season this week, May 5, with a salad luncheon in the church basement at 11 am.
PASTOR BRYAN will be out of the office Tuesday–Friday as he serves our denomination on the council of delegates. If you have any needs, please contact your care community elder.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION FUND 2026-2027 PLEDGE DRIVE! Last week the Christian Education Fund pledge form packets were placed in your church mailbox. Please prayerfully consider giving to this fund that blesses our covenantal children. To continue the program, we need our full tuition payment fully covered by the money pledged. Please return the completed pledge forms to mailbox 345 or drop it into the offering bag by next Sunday, May 10, 2026. Questions? Contact Kelly DeJong, Mark DeJong or Pam Korthuis.
