Our vision is to see people transformed by Jesus.

This stems from the reality that Jesus is the risen King. He was crucified for sin and gloriously raised from the dead. He will judge the world and now offers forgiveness and new life to everyone who trusts him. As a result, we seek the lost, share the message of Christ crucified and our lives as well, are strengthened by God's word and serve God and others in love.

It’s easy to see the faults in others, but it can be uncomfortable to talk about our own sin, to acknowledge that we have all turned away from God and deserve his judgement.

But why shy away from a problem that has such an amazing solution? Because by dying on the cross and rising to life again, Jesus overcame death and bore the penalty we deserved for our sin. Jesus offers real forgiveness and relationship with God. Jesus’ victory is not just a defeat of evil, but he deals with our greatest problem: the real guilt we have as a result of our rebellion against God. We love being clear about this message that is at the heart of Christianity.

By trusting Jesus, our relationship with God is restored and we can have life to the full now and into eternity. There’s no more doubting the meaning of life or what’s to come. Jesus’ great love for us means that our lives are given a fresh purpose as we seek to live for him and please God in everything.

So at Summer Hill Church, everything we do is centred around Jesus and his gospel.

The Bible

The good news of Jesus isn’t hidden or mysterious – God speaks to us today. In his Word, the Bible, God speaks so that we can be shaped by his Word. We think there is nothing bigger in life than this, so the Bible is central in what we do as a church.

From what happens in Sunday services, to how we engage with the local community, and the way we serve one another, everything we do as a church community puts meeting Jesus in God’s Word first.
