New Song 032121
  • Faith sees what God will do
Theme: Faith sees beyond what is to what God will do.
    Text: Hebrews 11:8-16
Goals: Faith Sees what God will do
ME: ORIENTATION: FIND COMMON GROUND WITH THE AUDIENCE

What will God do in a person who lives by faith?

    Nothing is impossible with God.

How could God use your life for His Glory?

We have spoken on this for at least four weeks.

God has something for this church!

WE: IDENTIFICATION (MAKE IT CLEAR THAT YOU STRUGGLE)
Many things are changing in the world these days.
It seems like evil is called good and good evil.
The only solution for the world is Jesus.
People living in faith can and will make a difference in this world.
In this district and conference people are setting aside time to pray for revival. Another move of the spirit.
    What will you do?
God is speaking are you listening?

Faith Changes everything in the life of a follower who will puts Christ first.

GOD: ILLUMINATION (THE GOAL IS TO RESOLVE THE TENSION

    I. Faith Changes everything

    Hebrews 11:1-2 (NKJV)

11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.

    Hebrews 11:8 (ESV)
8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (Heb 11:8). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.

Faith Changes everything in the life of a follower who will puts Christ first.

    Genesis 12: 1-4a

12 Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.
2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him,
He was 75Promised a land with no children and his wife was barren.
It was truly a mystery but Abraham put his trust in God.
Going to a land where his only protection is God, no family or clan
    He was alone with God
Faith Changes everything in the life of a follower who will puts Christ first.
What can I do to follow you?
( growing, obeying, and putting Jesus first. Loving and reaching my world.)

    II. Is Faith Changing you.

    Hebrews 11:9-10 (ESV)
9 By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise.
10 For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.
Given a promise which was lived out by faith as they waited for God’s blessing.
They spent their lives living in faith.
What God was giving them was beyond their life time.
    B. If faith changes everything do I have that faith?
    C. Faith Changes everything in the life of a follower who will puts Christ first.
    D. The life of faith is the only life that pleases God

    III. Faith faced obstacles.

    Hebrews 11:11-12 (ESV)
11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.
12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.
Sarah was a woman of faith
    Genesis 18:9-10 (ESV)
9 They said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” And he said, “She is in the tent.”
10 The Lord said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him.
    B. Sarah wrestled with her faith and God’s blessings.
    a. I asked once before ages for illustration… can you image someone in there 80’s and 90’s having children?
    Hebrews 11:13-14 (ESV)
13 These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.
14 For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.
Faith Changes everything in the life of a follower who will puts Christ first.
If faith changes everything do I have that faith?
What if God spoke to you in this way?
Would we be open to this news?
The life of faith is the only life that pleases God

IV. Faith sees what God will do

16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.
Faith sees beyond what is to what God will do.
When was the last time you cried while praying for the lost?
Do we pray in faith for them?
Do we seek to be a witness?
We must be people of faith and realize that this faith changes us!
