Welcome to our monthly newsletter. This month we have some big events. We have the Community Forum for the Secure Women’s Refuge on Monday 9/9 and we have our big Combined Parish Service on 29/9 as we talk about the future of Keppel Anglican.
Sunday 1/9 is Father’s Day. A day when we can give thanks for the fathers we have in our lives. But please remember, that while some celebrate, others will mourn this weekend, for many reasons. For me, as my father is quite unwell, I give thanks for his example to me of how to live as a Christian man, I give thanks that he has been in my life for a long time and I give thanks for his faithful life. However, I grieve he is so unwell. For all of us, while our own earthly fathers are human and therefore weak, our heavenly Father is not. He is strong, he is almighty and he rules over all. He is our spiritual father and he encourages us to pray to him and to call on him.
As Christians who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus, we are adopted into God’s family. So he is our father, and we rejoice that we can call him Father.
Grace and peace.
Rob.

The Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Sentence:
Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17
Prayer of the Day:
Cleanse our consciences, O Lord, and enlighten our hearts through the daily presence of your Son Jesus Christ, that when he comes in glory to be our judge we may be found undefiled and acceptable in his sight; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Prayer of the Week:
Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: graft in our hearts the love of your name, increase in us true religion, nourish us with all goodness, and of your great mercy keep us in the same; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
THANKSGIVING:
Almighty God, Creator of all things, we thank you for making us in your image and giving us life. Though we have sinned, you loved us and sent your Son, Jesus, who lived the life we could not live and died the death that we deserve. We come to you in humble dependence, thankful for the glorious gospel of the risen Lord Jesus, through whom we are forgiven, saved and called to serve you forever.
To you be all glory, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Amen.
