PRAYERS

11 January 2026

The First Sunday After Epiphany / The Baptism of Our Lord

Sentence:

A voice came from heaven, saying, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.’ Matthew 3:17

Prayer of the Day:

Loving God, your Son came to seek the lost, and was baptised with sinners: grant that we, who have been baptised in his name, may reach out in love to those in need with the mercy of Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of the Week:

Almighty God, who anointed Jesus at his baptism with the Holy Spirit and revealed him as your beloved Son: inspire us, your children, who are born again of water and the Spirit, to surrender our lives to your service, that we may rejoice to be called your children; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

18 January 2026

The Second Sunday After Epiphany

Sentence:

God is faithful; by him you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9

Prayer of the Day:

Almighty God, whose Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, is the light of the world: may your people, illumined by your word and sacraments, shine with the radiance of his glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Prayer of the Week:

Almighty God, by whose grace alone we are accepted and called to your service: strengthen us by your Holy Spirit and make us worthy of our calling; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

25 January 2026

The Third Sunday After Epiphany

Sentence:

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people. Matthew 4:23

Prayer of the Day:

Loving God, the light of the minds that know you, the life of the souls that love you, and the strength of the hearts that serve you: help us so to know you that we may truly love you, and so to love you that we may faithfully serve you, whose service is perfect freedom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week:

O God, the strength of all those who put their trust in you: mercifully accept our prayers, and because through the weakness of our mortal nature we can do nothing good without you, grant us the help of your grace, that in keeping your commandments we may please you both in will and deed; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE BRISBANE COLLECTS

1. THANKSGIVING:

Almighty God, Creator of all things, we thank you for making us in your image and giving us life. Though we have sinned, you loved us and sent your Son, Jesus, who lived the life we could not live and died the death that we deserve. We come to you in humble dependence, thankful for the glorious gospel of the risen Lord Jesus, through whom we are forgiven, saved and called to serve you forever.

To you be all glory, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Amen.

3. BUILDING THE CHURCH:

Our heavenly Father, we thank you for the promise of your Son to build his church. Empower us by your Holy Spirit so we may boldly proclaim and live out the gospel with courage, clarity and compassion. Raise up future leaders in our churches to equip your people to be disciples of Christ in our families, workplaces and communities. In your mercy, use us to draw people of all ages to respond to the good news in faith and obedience, so that future generations will know and trust you.

We pray this in the name of our Saviour Jesus, Amen.

Morning Tea Set-up Roster 9:30 Service

9:30 Service morning tea is a great time to chat and fellowship with others at our church. At the moment morning tea is set up before and during the end of the 9:30 service.

In 2026 we will be starting a creche as part of Kids Church so we will be unable to set up the morning tea in the hall prior to the service.

We are looking for a few people who are able to commit to a roster of setting up morning tea during the end of the 9:30 service. This is not necessarily a roster to bring food but a roster to set out the cups, make the tea, put out the food others have brought etc.

As part of our commitment to protecting the children, youth and vulnerable in our church, those 18 and over need to be compliant with our safe ministry practices.

Please let Philippa know or contact the church office and leave a message (email or church phone).

Parish Council Meeting

Minutes of the most recent meeting will be available (soon) for viewing in the Foxwell Room and on the Emu Park noticeboard.
