    It is a joy and a privilege to gather together in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As we come together as a community of faith, let us open our hearts to receive His Word and His presence.     Let's pray.
    Heavenly Father,
    Heavenly Father, we come before you today with hearts full of gratitude and anticipation. We gather to worship and to hear from Your Word, knowing that we are privileged to be called Your children. We praise You for the love and grace that You have lavished upon us through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
    As we enter this time of worship and reflection, we ask that you open our hearts and minds to receive your truth. Speak to us by your Holy Spirit, illuminating the Scriptures and revealing your love's beauty and depth. May your presence be tangible, filling this place with your peace and joy.
    We lift up each congregation member, knowing that you see and care for each one individually. Whatever burdens or joys we carry today, we entrust them to you, knowing that you are faithful to sustain us and to walk with us through every season of life.
    So now, Lord, we commit this time of worship and preaching into your hands. May all that we say and do bring glory and honor to your name. In Jesus' precious name, we pray.

    Our previous sermon delved into the foundational truth of our need for a Savior. We explored the reality of sin and its devastating consequences, acknowledging that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). We discussed the biblical concept of sin as missing the mark and rebellion against God's authority, drawing from passages like Romans 3:23 and 1 John 3:4.
    Furthermore, we examined the consequences of sin, including spiritual separation from God, guilt and shame, and brokenness in relationships. Through passages like Isaiah 59:2 and Psalm 51:3-4, we saw the sobering reality of sin's impact on our lives and world.
    However, amidst the darkness of sin, we also glimpse the hope of redemption through Jesus Christ. We emphasized recognizing our need for a Savior and turning to Jesus as the solution to our sin problem. Through illustrations like the "debt paid in full," we illustrated the theological truth of Jesus' atoning sacrifice on the cross, which satisfies the demands of God's justice and offers forgiveness and reconciliation to all who believe.
    As we continue our journey today, let us carry the sobering truth of our need for a Savior and the hope-filled promise of redemption through Jesus Christ. May our hearts be open to receive the message of salvation, and may we respond with humility, gratitude, and faith.
    As we transition from our previous exploration of our need for a Savior to today's focus on "The Work of the Savior." It is important to understand that this is a pivotal moment in our journey of faith—a moment where we delve deeper into the heart of the gospel message and grasp the profound significance of Jesus Christ as our Savior.
    Why is the work of Jesus as our Savior so important for each one of us? It's a question worth pondering, for it touches the very core of our identity and our relationship with God. You see, the truth of Jesus' work as our Savior is a personal and life-changing reality that has the power to transform us from the inside out.
    For each one of us, Jesus' work as our Savior holds the key to our salvation, our forgiveness, and our eternal destiny. It is through His life, His death, and His resurrection that we find hope, redemption, and restoration. It is through His perfect obedience to God's will that we are reconciled to the Father and welcomed into His family as beloved children.
    But the importance of Jesus' work as our Savior goes beyond just our individual salvation. It has cosmic implications, impacting the entire world and all of creation. Through His sacrificial death on the cross, Jesus accomplished what no one else could—he satisfied the demands of God's justice and made a way for sinners to be reconciled to God.
    Today, as we delve deeper into the work of the Savior, let us open our hearts to receive the fullness of God's love and grace. Let us grasp the magnitude of what Jesus has done for us and respond with gratitude, humility, and faith. And let us never forget the profound importance of Jesus' work as our Savior—for it is the foundation of our hope, our joy, and our eternal life.

    Jesus’ Life, Death, and Resurrection

    In our exploration of "The Work of the Savior," we will examine three verses today. The first is John 3:16. This verse serves as a beacon of hope, illuminating the depth of God's love and the magnitude of His redemptive plan through Jesus Christ.

    John 3:16 reads:

    “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
    In this single verse, we find a rich tapestry of theological truths that underscore the centrality of Jesus' life, death, and Resurrection to God's plan of salvation:
    Beginning with the phrase "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son..." The incarnation of Jesus Christ—God becoming flesh and dwelling among us—is the ultimate expression of God's love for humanity. Through Jesus' birth, God enters into our human experience, identifying with us in our humanity and offering Himself as the solution to our sin problem.
    Then, with the phrase "...that he gave his only Son..." We see that the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross is the pinnacle of God's redemptive plan. God demonstrates His willingness to pay the ultimate price to reconcile humanity to Himself by giving His Son as a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus' death serves as the atoning sacrifice that satisfies the demands of God's justice and secures forgiveness and redemption for all who believe.
    Finally, in the phrase "...that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." The victorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the crowning moment of God's redemptive work. By conquering sin and death through His Resurrection, Jesus secures eternal life for all who place their faith in Him. His Resurrection is the ultimate sign of His victory over sin and the assurance of our own Resurrection and eternal life.

    Jesus’ Life, Death, and Resurreciton

    Continuing our exploration of "The Work of the Savior," we now turn our attention to Romans 5:8. In this verse, the Apostle Paul unveils the profound depth of God's love and the transformative power of Jesus' life, Death and Resurrection in fulfilling God's plan of redemption.
    Romans 5:8 reads:

    but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
    In this single verse, we discover three foundational aspects of Jesus' work as the Savior, each contributing to the fulfillment of God's plan of redemption:
    First, in the phrase, "But God shows his love for us..." The incarnation of Jesus Christ—the Word becoming flesh—stands as the ultimate demonstration of God's love for humanity. In Jesus' life and ministry, God reveals His character and His desire for reconciliation with His creation. Jesus' willingness to leave the glory of heaven and enter into our broken world demonstrates the extent of God's love and His commitment to redeeming humanity.
    Next, in the phrase, "...while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." The sacrificial Death of Jesus Christ on the cross is the focal point of God's plan of redemption. In His Death, Jesus takes upon Himself the penalty for our sins, bearing the full weight of God's wrath and judgment. Despite our unworthiness and rebellion against Him, God demonstrates His love by offering His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Jesus' Death is the ultimate expression of God's love and how we are reconciled to God.
    Finally, in the phrase, "Christ died for us." The Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the culmination of God's redemptive work. By raising Jesus from the dead, God vindicates His Son's sacrifice and declares victory over sin and Death. Jesus' Resurrection is the assurance of our own Resurrection and the promise of eternal life for all who believe in Him. Through His Resurrection, Jesus offers hope and new life to all who place their faith in Him.

    Continuing our journey into "The Work of the Savior," we now focus on 1 Corinthians 15:3-4. In these verses, the Apostle Paul succinctly encapsulates the essence of the gospel message—the life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ—and its profound significance for God's plan of redemption.

    For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,

    In this passage, we find a concise summary of the key events of Jesus' work as the Savior, each fulfilling a crucial aspect of God's plan of redemption:

    First, we read, "For I delivered to you as of first importance..." The incarnation of Jesus Christ—the Word becoming flesh—is of paramount importance to God's plan of redemption. In taking on human form, Jesus enters into our world to fulfill the will of the Father and to accomplish salvation for humanity. His incarnation demonstrates God's love and His desire to reconcile humanity to Himself.
    Then, in our verse, we read "...that Christ died for our sins..." The sacrificial Death of Jesus Christ on the cross is the central event of God's plan of redemption. Jesus' Death is not a random act of violence but a deliberate and purposeful sacrifice for the sins of the world. By offering Himself as the atoning sacrifice, Jesus satisfies the demands of God's justice and secures forgiveness and redemption for all who believe in Him.
    Finally, we read, "...that he was raised on the third day..." The Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the culmination of God's redemptive work. By raising Jesus from the dead, God demonstrates His power over sin and Death and vindicates His Son's sacrifice on the cross. Jesus' Resurrection assures us of our own Resurrection and promises eternal life for all who believe in Him.

    As we reflect on the profound truths in John 3:16, Romans 5:8, and 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, we are confronted with the undeniable significance of Jesus' work in providing salvation for humanity. Through His incarnation, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection, Jesus Christ fulfills God's plan of redemption. And He offers eternal life to all who believe in Him.
    Jesus' incarnation reveals the depth of God's love for humanity. He willingly enters our broken world to identify with us in our humanity and to offer Himself as the solution to our sin problem. In His life, Jesus demonstrates the character of God and invites us to experience the fullness of God's love and grace.
    Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross is the pivotal moment in God's plan of redemption. In offering Himself as the atoning sacrifice for our sins, Jesus satisfies the demands of God's justice and secures forgiveness and redemption for all who place their faith in Him. Jesus reconciles us to God through His death and opens the door to eternal life.
    Jesus' victorious resurrection from the dead is the crowning achievement of God's redemptive work. By conquering sin and death, Jesus demonstrates His power and authority over all creation and offers hope and new life to all who believe in Him. His resurrection assures us of our own resurrection and promises eternal life in His presence.
    Let us always appreciate the significance of Jesus' work in providing salvation for humanity. Through His life, His death, and His resurrection, we find forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life. May we respond to this incredible gift with gratitude, humility, and faith and live each day in the light of His love and grace.

    Jesus’ the Perfect Sacrifice

    As we delve deeper into "The Work of the Savior," we now focus on examining Jesus' perfect obedience as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. This section will explore the profound significance of Jesus' obedience to God's will, culminating in His sacrificial death on the cross. To lay a solid foundation for our study, we first introduce our two primary texts: Philippians 2:8 and Hebrews 10:5-7.

    And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

    In this passage, the Apostle Paul highlights the humility and obedience of Jesus Christ, who willingly submitted Himself to God's will, even to the point of death on the cross. Jesus' obedience is not merely a passive acceptance of His fate but an active and intentional surrender to the Father's plan of redemption. His obedience is a model for us to follow, demonstrating the selflessness and devotion that characterized His earthly ministry.

    Hebrews 10:5–7 ESV
    Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me; in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’ ”

    In these verses, the author of Hebrews quotes Psalm 40:6-8, emphasizing Jesus' willingness to fulfill God's will by offering Himself the perfect sacrifice for sin. Unlike the imperfect sacrifices of the Old Testament, Jesus' sacrifice is pleasing to God because it is provided willingly and by His divine plan. Jesus' obedience to the Father's will is the driving force behind His sacrificial death, and it is through His obedience that we find redemption and reconciliation with God.

    As we contemplate the profound obedience of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the atoning work He accomplished on the cross, let us be inspired to model our lives after His example. Just as Jesus humbled Himself and submitted to the Father's will, even unto death, we are called to walk in obedience and surrender to God's purposes.
    1. Model of Obedience: Jesus' obedience is a model for us to follow in our lives. He perfectly aligned with God's will, even in suffering and death. As His disciples, we are called to imitate His obedience and trust in the Father's plans, knowing He works all things together for our good.
    2. Trust in His Atoning Work: Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross is the foundation of our faith and the source of our salvation. By trusting in His atoning work, we can find forgiveness for our sins and reconciliation with God. Let us place our faith in Jesus as our Savior and rest assured that His sacrifice is sufficient to cover our sins.
    3. Walk in Freedom: Through Jesus' obedience and sacrificial death, we are set free from the power of sin and death. As we obey God's commands and trust in His grace, we experience the fullness of life that Jesus promised to those who believe in Him. Let us embrace the freedom of living in a relationship with our Savior and allow His love to transform us from the inside out.
    Let us never take for granted the incredible gift of salvation that Jesus has secured for us through His obedience and sacrificial death. May we continually model our lives after His example, trusting in His atoning work for our salvation and walking in the freedom and joy from knowing Him.

    The Cross and Resurrection

    As we explore "The Cross and Resurrection" in God's plan of salvation, we first lay a foundational understanding of how these pivotal events serve as demonstrations of God's love and justice. Drawing from Romans 3:25-26 and 1 John 4:9-10, let us delve into the profound truths illuminating the cross as the ultimate expression of God's love and justice.

    whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

    The Apostle Paul articulates the profound significance of Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross in these verses. Jesus becomes the propitiation for our sins through His blood, satisfying the demands of God's justice and reconciling us to Himself. God's righteousness is displayed in His forbearance in overlooking former sins and in His justifying action through faith in Jesus Christ. The cross is the ultimate demonstration of God's love for humanity, providing a way for sinners to be reconciled to Him while also upholding His justice by satisfying the demands of sin.

    In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

    The Apostle John echoes Paul's sentiments, emphasizing God's love in sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to be the propitiation for our sins. The sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross is the ultimate expression of God's love for humanity, as He willingly offers His Son as the atoning sacrifice to reconcile us to Himself. In this act of love, God demonstrates His righteousness and justice, allowing sinners to be forgiven and reconciled to Him.

    So What

    As we draw near to the conclusion of our sermon, it's essential to address the question: "So what difference does all this make to me?" The profound truths we've explored today about the Savior's work—His life, death, and resurrection—have significant implications for our lives, both now and in the days to come.
    1. Immediate Impact:
    Understanding the work of the Savior impacts our lives today. It reminds us of God's love for us and the lengths He went to reconcile us to Himself. As we grasp the magnitude of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, we are compelled to respond with gratitude, humility, and devotion.
    2. Assurance of Salvation:
    The truths we've uncovered today provide assurance of our salvation. We can rest assured that through faith in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, redeemed, and reconciled to God. The cross is an eternal reminder of God's faithfulness and promise of eternal life for all who believe in His Son.
    3. Transformational Power:
    The message of the Savior's work can transform our lives from the inside out. As we embrace His love and surrender to His will, we experience the freedom and joy of living in a relationship with Him. His Spirit empowers us to live lives of obedience, love, and service, reflecting His character to the world around us.
    4. Hope for the Future:
    The truths we've uncovered today offer hope for the future. We can face whatever challenges may come knowing that we are held secure in the hands of our Savior. His resurrection assures us of our own resurrection and the promise of eternal life in His presence.
    5. Call to Action:
    Ultimately, the message of the Savior's work calls us to action. It challenges us to live lives that reflect the love, grace, and mercy we have received from Him. It compels us to share the good news of salvation with others and to be ambassadors of reconciliation in a broken and hurting world.
    May we never underestimate the difference that the message of the Savior's work can make in our lives today and in the coming days. May it fill us with hope, joy, and purpose as we live each day in the light of His love and grace.

    Today, we've been reminded of the depth of God's love for us—so great that He sent His only Son to die for our sins. We've seen how Jesus' perfect obedience and sacrificial death on the cross demonstrate God's love and justice, providing a way for sinners to be reconciled to Him. We've been challenged to model our lives after His example, walking in obedience and trust and embracing the freedom and joy from knowing Him.
    Beloved, let us respond to the Savior's work with wholehearted devotion and commitment. Let us surrender our lives completely to His leading, allowing His love to transform us from the inside out. Let us walk in the light of His truth, sharing the good news of salvation with others and living lives that bring glory and honor to His name.
    As we depart from this place, may we be grateful for the incomparable gift of salvation we have received through Jesus Christ. May His love compel us to live lives of love, grace, and mercy, reflecting His character to the world around us. May we never waver in our faith or lose sight of the hope we have in Him.
    May we follow the Savior wholeheartedly, trusting in His promises and proclaiming His name to all the earth.
