  • SANCTIFY YOURSELVES TEXT:
    INTRODUCTION:
“And Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves; for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you” (Josh. 3:5).The key to victory is “Sanctify yourselves.” We have the promise, “The Lord will do wonders.”
The Ark of the covenant was overlay with gold, and it’s content was three things stone tablets, which is the Ten Commandments. The golden jar of manna, Aaron’s rod that budded.
God is getting ready to do something amazing for those who are prepared to receive it.
The ark of the covenant simulated the very presence of God/ Since No man could see God at anytime and live. But the Ark gave them the comfort of knowing that God was there.
God is taking them from where they are to where He has planned for us before the foundation of the world. This is God’s Interest for us. exceeding abundantly above all!!
    Transformation in our lives.
The military did not go before them the priets and the levites did. this didn’t swords God is leading them and going before them.

    I. New Territory Same God

Joshua 3:3 “and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it.”
The Command: "When you see the ark... then you shall set out" (Joshua 3:3).
Key Concept: Faith is not blind; it is attentive. The Israelites were not to move based on their own restlessness or military strategy, but only when they saw the visible sign of God's presence.
Application: Before we "move out" in our own lives, we must first "look up" to ensure God is leading.
The Command: "Move out from your positions and follow it".
Key Concept: It is just as dangerous to run ahead of God as it is to lag behind Him. By following the Ark, Israel acknowledged that God alone was the pathfinder into "uncharted territory".
Application: We must be willing to leave our "place"—our comfort zones and familiar methods—to step into the "new thing" God is doing.
The Command: Focus on "the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God".
Key Concept: The Ark contained the Law, the manna, and Aaron’s rod—symbols of God’s requirements, provision, and authority. To follow the Ark was to commit to living under God's covenantal terms.
Application: True victory in our "promised lands" comes not through strength, but through a commitment to God’s Word and character.
    A. For forty years Israel had the “pillar of fire” by night and the “pillar of cloud” by day.
    B. Now they are to follow the “ark of the covenant” across the Jordan River (see Josh. 3:15–17). But they have the promise, “Hereby you shall know that the living God is among you” (Josh. 3:10).

    II. Consecrated For The Crossing

While the leadership is changing God remains the same
    A. They were to cleanse and purify themselves. “Come out … and be separate” (2 Corinthians 6:17 “Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.””
This was within their ability. They could and must put away uncleanness/all Idols.
    B. They were to dedicate themselves to God’s purpose and instructions.

    III. Possesing The Promise.

Taking hold of what God has already given.
    A. God could not work through unsanctified hearts.
    B. The Lord will ask them to do things that would paralyze with fear unsanctified hearts. He commanded the priests to step into the waters of an overflowing river. And wonders did follow.
    C. A few days later God commanded them to march around Jericho. Unsanctified hearts would have laughed at God’s commands, promises, and methods. But wonders did follow.
    D. There were dangers and perils ahead for unsanctified hearts. We need only think of Achan (read Josh. 7).
    APPLICATION:
“Sanctify yourselves.” This is also spoken to us.
“The Lord will work wonders among you.” This promise is also to us.
2 Chronicles 7:14 issues the same call to God’s children.
2 Corinthians 6:14–7:1, likewise sounds the command and the promises. 20
