1 Let all who are under a yoke as bondservants regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be reviled. 2 Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they are brothers; rather they must serve all the better since those who benefit by their good service are believers and beloved. Teach and urge these things.
    Me
    Serving well
I have had good bosses and bad bosses, some believers others not.
The question is how have I responded to them.
And most of us if not all of us have served in a place where our response to leadership may have been questionable
    We
Its an important question when we look at passages like 1 Tim 6:1-2.
    How have we responded?
Have we acted well. Have we shown respect to those who I have served under. How have I acted in various work settings.
We are called to glorify God by how we treat those we serve.
    God
This final chapter, like in many of Pauls letter includes many important lessons of wisdom and reiterating ideas of the book.
But before we read this passage, let us go to the Lord in prayer. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of our hearts be pleasing in your sight
    1 Timothy 6:1–2a (ESV)
1 Let all who are under a yoke as bondservants regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be reviled. 2 Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they are brothers; rather they must serve all the better since those who benefit by their good service are believers and beloved.
Thus far this letter has been about to act within the church, but in part the idea is how the church is presented to the world outside of the fellowship.
Now this passage is largely referring to slaves and how slaves should act under their masters. Luckily this is largely an abolished practice in much of the world. But it is still applicable to us, today we can understand this is how to treat those we work for.
So now, when outside of our walls, how do we show Christ to others.
There was not the same type of religious employment like there is now. Most people did not work in the church.
Still most members of a given church do not work in a Christian setting.
This looks at two circumstances, those who serve under unbelievers and those who serve under believers.
We are called to glorify God by how we treat those we serve.
    1 Timothy 6:1 ESV
1 Let all who are under a yoke as bondservants regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be reviled.
This is an important responsibility we see here
We regard our master, our boss worthy of honor
Why? So that the truth of God may not be reviled.
Wow, that is a major responsibility and a difficult one.
We do this to bring glory to God.
We do this to give us opportunities to witness
Grandpa’s work. Co-worker that converted their boss.
    1 Timothy 6:2 (ESV)
2 Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they are brothers; rather they must serve all the better since those who benefit by their good service are believers and beloved.
    But what about believers
This was written in a time that Christianity was completly changing the culture.
Up until then there was a division between slaves and masters.
But the church is a place they came together.
So Paul is writing show the same respect to them.
Serve them better because they are a brother.
Same today, we want believers to be successful and have influence.
There are important take aways for our daily lives.
    You
We are called to glorify God by how we treat those we serve.
How do you treat your boss. Do you treat them in a way that God is glorified and opportunities may present themselves.
    Full time, part time volunteer
    My side stuff
If you work for a believer show them the same respect. Do not take advantage because they are a brother or sister, but instead come together to glorify God.
This does not mean you can not stand up for yourself, but that you act in a way that shows the truth and love of God.

Slightly different because it is OT, but still glean this concept.
Saved his people because he followed this and God blessed him.
