    1. Rebuke for Bad Counselors - 7-8

    a. A picture of God’s Just Wrath

    What about the Devil?
    Genesis 3:15 ESV
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
    Revelation 20:10 ESV
and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

    b. A Picture of God’s Plan for a Mediator

    We ask, “what about Satan?”
But do we ask, “what about us?”
You see, in this story we are as much like Job’s friends than Job. In terms of right and wrong, we have ought. We have led astray. We have erred. We have sinned.
The question often attached to Job is “why do bad things happen to good people?”
But the question of the Bible is really, “what is the hope for all of us, because none of us are good?”
    The answer: A Mediator.
    Moses, another picture -
    Exodus 32:11 ESV
But Moses implored the Lord his God and said, “O Lord, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?
    Exodus 32:14 ESV
And the Lord relented from the disaster that he had spoken of bringing on his people.
    The True Mediator
    1 Timothy 2:1–6 ESV
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
In speaking of how the life of a Christian is to be a life of service, Jesus spoke of Himself in this way.
    Matthew 20:28 ESV
even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Just as Satan will have his due wrath and eternal destruction, so there is wrath and the need of a Mediator - this mediator, Jesus, for all people.
    2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

    2. God Redeems for Good Service - 9-11

    a. A Picture of Mercy and Grace

    James 5:11 ESV
Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.
