    Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.”

    The Mighty, Providential hand of God is at work in our lives not only to bless us, but to shine forth as a testimony to those around us.

    The Blessing of Child

    This child = the answer, the redemption, the outcome.
    The Lord gave her conception - making it clear that it was God answering the prayer, bringing the redemption, securing the outcome.
    Miracle children
    Abraham and Sarah, Isaac
    Hannah, Samuel
    Mary, Jesus
    But the meaning here is not that this son was a miraculous conception - but that God worked through ordinary means to provide miraculous blessing.
    Psalm 127:3–5 ESV
    Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

    The Blessing of the Lord

    The birth of this child caused the women of the community to do what? To bless the Lord!
    Why? Because he has not left the helpless.

    God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

    But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless.

    The Blessing of a Testimony

    May his name be renowned in Israel
    Sounds like something we might say about the Lord - and yes.
    But here? It was about the child.
    Obed.
    Notice the sentence

    Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without a redeemer, and may his name be renowned in Israel!
    A direct connection from the renown or the name of Obed, to what the Lord has done.
    A Testimony Proclaims God’s Work

    This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.
    A Testimony Proclaims God’s Power
    Psalm 71:18 ESV
    So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.
    A Testimony Proclaims God’s Character

    Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

    A Testimony Proclaims God’s Glory
