1 Corinthians 15:34 KJV 1900 34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.1 Corinthians 15:51–58 KJV 1900 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.Since the Tomb is Empty…We Need to Wake Up1 Corinthians 15:34 KJV 1900 34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. To Our Sinfulness “to righteousness and sin not”To Others Salvation “for some have not the knowledge of God”We Need to Wise Up1 Corinthians 15:51 KJV 1900 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,Death Brings Improvement “We shall be changed”Death Brings Incorruption“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”We Need to Witness Up1 Corinthians 15:57 KJV 1900 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.Christ Defeated the Sting of DeathSin gives death powerSin surrounds death with fearChrist Defeated Strength of SinThe law gives sin powerNo law = no condemnationChrist Defeated the Servility of Life“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ“We Need to Work Up58Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.Be AdamantBe AnchoredBe AboundingThe believer is to be stedfast and unmoveable. Why? Because we have such a glorious hope: the hope of being resurrected and given an incorruptible and immortal body. The hope of this glorious fact should stir you to be stedfast and unmoveable in serving the Lord Jesus Christ.⇒ The word stedfastmeans to be firm, fixed, determined, purposed, faithful. The believer is to stand fast and fixed in his belief and labor for the Lord, determined to live for the Lord and to carry out his purpose for the Lord. The believer is to be faithful to the end.⇒ The word "unmoveable" means to be unyielding, unshaken, undisturbed. The believer is not to be fickle in his service for the Lord. He is to stand as solid as a rock in his beliefs and in the serving of the Lord.3. The believer is to abound in the work of the Lord. Note two significant points.⇒ The word "labor" means toiling and working to the point of exhaustion and fatigue, to the point of collapse.⇒ The word always means never cease, never stop, never slacken up, never quit, never retire. The believer will be rewarded. What a challenge to the believer! Yet, how could less be expected when the promise of being resurrected and given a new body has been given to a person? The believer's labor will not be in vain, that is, left empty and unrewarded. The believer who...• is stedfast,• is unmoveable,• is always abounding and laboring in the work of the Lord,• will be rewarded: resurrected and given a new body.Is the Empty Tomb of Value to YOU?You Have to Die Before You Can Live Again! 1 Corinthians 15:34HCSB
