    Revelation 1:1–3 KJV 1900
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. 3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
As we have begun this study in the Book of Revelation, we have discovered that it is a book REVEALING Jesus Christ. It was given to Christ by God the Father who then entrusted it with His angels to deliver it to John, who delivered it to the 7 churches of Asia, who shared with you and I today.
The Book of Revelation is not a book about prophecy, although it does contain prophecy.
The Book of Revelation is not a book about heaven, although it gives us glimpses into Heaven.
The Book of Revelation is not about horses, beasts, and dragons, although we will find them discussed throughout the book.
The Book of Revelation is about 1 thing and 1 thing only, Jesus Christ.
Because of the Subject matter, Jesus Christ, we can expect to be BLESSED as we OBEY and SURRENDER to the plan of God through Jesus Christ.
    Revelation 1:4–6 KJV 1900
4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
The revelation and proclamation made by John to the Seven churches of Asia and even us today, is wrapped in the full Diety of the Godhead.
God the Father - “The Great I Am” which is, which was, and which is to come.
God the Spirit - “The Complete empowering and effectiveness of the Holy Spirit which is always ready to lead the charge of the Father to exalt the Son.
and of course - God the Son - The One that faithfully witnesses the words of the Father. The One who trusted His Father at the 1st Coming where the Father raised Him from the dead who will rule and reign forever above all thrones.
Jesus, God’s Son, is the One that loved us enough to shed His blood for the remission of our sins. Who not only gave His blood, but washed us with His blood to purify our tainted and diseased blood.
After purifying us with His own blood, He positioned us as kings and priests, under His authority, to bring people to Jesus Christ.
Now, we come to the next couple of sentences.
    Revelation 1:7–8 KJV 1900
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
    Behold: a word of EXPECTATION.
Today, we would say “LOOK” with our hand and finger pointed in a certain direction.
Not only is this a word of EXPECTATION but it is a word of EXCITEMENT because of the He it is directed towards.
Jesus promised His disciples that if He went, and He did, that He would also return, and He will.
The world has waited in anticipation for 6,000 years for the Redeemer to come. He came the first time, was born of a virgin and died on the cross to purchase the redemption. Then, one day, Jesus will return to this earth in power and glory. He will defeat the enemies of God and He will establish His kingdom here and He will reign here for 1,000 years. This verse is about that event. This does not speak about the Rapture, but of His Revelation.
The Book of Revelation not only Reveals Jesus Christ but points us to His Return and His Rejoicing …
    Philippians 2:10 KJV 1900
    10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
    Philippians 2:11 KJV 1900
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
    So, Behold,
I hope I have you attention and expectation this morning.
    So, Behold,
I hope I have you excited this morning.
    Behold, Christ is Returning!
This is not speaking of the Rapture, but rather the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ.

    Jesus Will Return in Glory:

    Revelation 1:7 KJV 1900
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Christ will return not in the clouds, not through the clouds, but with the clouds.
Clouds is not referring to the white, gray, black, puffy things in the sky.
Clouds is referring to the Glory of God.
We see this first in Ex 13:21-22
    Exodus 13:21–22 KJV 1900
21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: 22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
    Exodus 19:16–18 KJV 1900
16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled. 17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. 18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.
    Exodus 40:34–38 KJV 1900
34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys: 37 But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up. 38 For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
    Matthew 17:1–5 KJV 1900
1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
    In Act 1:9
    Acts 1:9 KJV 1900
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
God cannot be seen with the human eyes. Therefore, every time God dwelt or came any where near man, He cover His radiant glory from us.
Only when God dwelt with us in flesh were we able to see His glory according to John 1 14
    John 1:14 KJV 1900
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
When Christ returns, it will not be in the flesh, but will be in the fulness of the Godhead, The Shekinah Glory of God.
The same massive light seen at the beginning of creation in Genesis 1 on day one to be divided with darkness to begin time until the Sun, moon, and stars could be create on Day 4 is the same glory that we will see when Jesus Christ returns in His Glory.
The angels informed us of this return in Acts 1:9-11
    Acts 1:9–11 KJV 1900
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
    Jesus is Coming Again!
But not only will Jesus Return in Glory but

    Jesus Will Return with Gazing:

    Revelation 1:7 KJV 1900
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Not only will everyone on earth see the return of Jesus Christ, but everyone who has ever lived from Adam to this day—every mother’s child—will see the Lord Jesus Christ. We are going to see Him.
The thought of everyone being able to see the same thing and the same time all over the world was considered impossible just a few decades ago. But, with the advent of satellite technology, people around the world witness the same event simultaneously.
But, when Jesus comes, He will not need Fox News or CNN to broadcast His coming. He will appear in the clouds and the whole world will be able to see Him at the same time. This tells us that His presence and glory will be undeniable in that day.
    Look at
    Revelation 21:23 KJV 1900
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
We will discover later in this book the Lamb is Jesus Christ.
    Notice also,
    Revelation 22:5
    Revelation 22:5 KJV 1900
5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
I can’t even imagine a light, the glory of God, so bright that it will be seen over the entire earth, but I am excited to see it. Amen.

    Jesus Will Return to Guilt:

    Revelation 1:7 KJV 1900
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Guilt is both the legal and moral condition that results from breaking God’s law. The Bible makes it clear that the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus will not be a pleasant event for the people of the world. Jew and Gentile alike will wail when they see Him coming.
The Jews will weep because their fathers rejected Him and their people paid a high price for their rebellion.
The Gentiles will wail because He comes to judge sin and sinner alike.
When Jesus comes there will be horrible judgment as He treads the
    Revelation 19:15 KJV 1900
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
“winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God”.
(Ill. John hears this and says, “Amen!” that is, “So be it; or may it come to pass,” This is a prayer that every saint should echo. Let us pray that whatever the cost, Jesus will come and set this world as it ought to be.)

    Jesus Will Return, Guaranteed!

    Revelation 1:8 KJV 1900
8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Jesus Is Everything, Every where, at the Same time.
    Jesus is God.

    Jesus’ Announcement:

    His Omniscience - All Knowing

Alpha and Omega = the first and last letter of the Greek alphabet from which Revelation was written.
For us, Jesus is A to Z.
He is the wisdom of eternity. He is the alphabet. He is God’s Word.
    John 1:1 KJV 1900
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He is the Faithful Word, He is the Full Word, and He is the Final Word.

    His Omnipresence - Ever Present

the beginning and the ending = The bookends of eternity.
    Jesus was in Genesis 1:1
    Genesis 1:1 KJV 1900
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
    Colossians 1:16 KJV 1900
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Jesus is the One Who started this universe on its present course and He is the One Who pilots it to its proper conclusion.
In other words, He declares Himself to be the One Who is in control! He is the “Lord”!
Jesus has been seen from Adam and Eve to Abraham, to David, to the New Testament and today through His Holy Spirit.
Jesus will return and finish what was started.

    Jesus’ Authority: His Diety.

    Revelation 1:8 KJV 1900
8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
    Remember, in
    Revelation 1:4 KJV 1900
    4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
there it referenced God the Father.
Jesus is now claiming His Diety.
As Diety, Jesus is also Omniscient - All Knowing, Omnipotent - All Powerful, Omnipresent - Ever Present
Everything that Jesus reveals in this Revelation of Himself, He will be able to accomplish. This world seems out of control, but know this, Jesus is in control. There is a Plan.
A part of this plan ends in those that believe and are saved will enter the presence of God for an eternity. Those that do not believe in Jesus Christ will be condemned to a Devil’s Hell for their eternity.
    Your decision now matters.

    Jesus’ Ability: His Omnipotence.

    Revelation 1:8 KJV 1900
8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
“the Almighty”. This word means, “the one who holds sway over all things”.
This title proclaims Him to be the sovereign Lord of the universe. He is the One Who is able to bring everything He has planned and promised to pass. He will do it and no one will be able to stop it!
Listen very carefully as we wrap up this mornings message.
I Long for the Coming of Jesus because I Love Jesus.
Jesus has been abused, refused, and confused. His name has been laughed at, scorned, mocked, and blasphemed.
But understand this, He is coming back.
Not only is coming to receive His own unto Him, and He is coming to reveal His Glory, but He will also be Glorified.
    2 Thessalonians 1:7–10 KJV 1900
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
Have you trusted in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?
Now is the day of salvation. The next will be a day of judgment and condemnation.
