Revelation 6:17 KJV 1900 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? After this question, God sends a pause on the judgments. An opportunity to contemplate this question, Who shall be able to stand? He initiates this pause by sending an angel to shout and inform the 4 angels on the corners of the earth to not release their hold on the four winds of judgment that are about to come. Rev 7:1-3Why stop the judgment from proceeding?Even amidst God’s wrath, He offers a time to show and extend His amazing grace and mercy.God never ever takes delight in the death and judgment of the wicked. As a matter of fact the opposite is true.Luke 19:10 KJV 1900 10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. This is exhibited in the pause, parenthetical that is not a chronological happening but an explanation of God’s remenant given to preach the Word of God.Last week we discovered 144,000 Jews were able to stand that were saved and sealed by God, Himself, to preach the gospel of the Kingdom. This week, we discover Salvation belongs to our God, who is always faithful and just willing to forgive and save.Revelation 7:10 KJV 1900 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.John 3:16 KJV 1900 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.Salvation belongs to our God!2 Peter 3:9 KJV 1900 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.Salvation belongs to our God!John 11:25–26 KJV 1900 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?Salvation belongs to our God!We discover in this chapter that salvation comes to the Jew and the Gentiles alike.Revelation 7:9–13 KJV 1900 9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. 13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? The Focus of Worship! The Martyred Saints:Who Are They? Please take notice that this great multitude, which no man could number, is neither Israel, nor the Church. These are gentiles of all nations, kindreds, people, and tongues. These martyrs come out of the great tribulation.Revelation 7:14 KJV 1900 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. These are Saved from all nations. These are Saved by the Blood of the Lamb.Revelation 7:14 KJV 1900 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. These Serve God in His TempleRevelation 7:15 KJV 1900 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.Service in the Old Testament belonged to the Levites and the priests.1 Chronicles 9:33 KJV 1900 33 And these are the singers, chief of the fathers of the Levites, who remaining in the chambers were free: for they were employed in that work day and night.Notice the difference between this multitude and the church saints in Rev 4:4.Revelation 7:9 KJV 1900 9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;Revelation 4:4 KJV 1900 4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. Both clothed in white robeswhich speak of purity, salvation, and forgiveness, Cleanness before the Lord. Remember, the realization of our nakedness happened upon the first sin of refusing to obey God and the desire to be our own god. Adam and Eves eyes were opened and they saw their nakedness. However, God clothed them.Psalm 132:9 KJV 1900 9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; And let thy saints shout for joy.Isaiah 61:10 KJV 1900 10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. However, beyond that, notice the differences. The Church saints are SITTING.These Martyrs are STANDING.The Church saints are Wearing CROWNS.These Martyrs are Waving PALMS.The mention of palms is fascinating because the palm is only mentioned here in the book of Revelation and the only tree mentioned in the construction of the Millennial Temple in Ezekiel 40 and Ezekiel 41.The palm is also named in connection with the Feast of the Tabernacles, the last of the 3 feasts that have not been fulfilled in Christ but will be fulfilled during the Tribulation period. These feasts are:The Feast of Trumpets. The feast of trumpets begin with the blowing of the shofar and lasts for 10 days of repentance. The Day of Atonement. This Day is the Holiest and most solemn day the Jewish year. It is observed with fasting, prayer, and seeking forgiveness for sins. This is the only day that the High priest is allowed to enter the Holy of holies to apply blood from the sacrifice upon the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant. The Feast of Tabernacles. This feast is joyous, week-long harvest festival where families eat and sometimes sleep in temporary outdoor shelters to remember the Israelites’ journey through the wilderness.Maybe one Sunday night soon, we will explore these feasts and what will show their fulfillments. However, lets get back to the text and comparison between the Church and these martyrs. The Church saints are called, “kings and priests”Revelation 5:10 KJV 1900 10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. The Church saints will REIGN with Christ. These Martyrs will SERVE Christ. The waving of palms and the use of building shelters with them during the feast of tabernacles is a sign of deliverance, a joyous occasion.Remember, it was palm branches they were waving when Jesus entered Jerusalem to deliver the world from sin.Lastly,The Church saints Sing unto Christ. These Martyrs “Cry out” to God.Revelation 7:10 KJV 1900 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. The cry is one of deliverance. A deliverance which God gives. A deliverance not of escape but rather a deliverance of conquest. It is not a deliverance which saves a man from trouble, but rather is a deliverance of bringing a man triumphantly through trouble. It does not make life easy, but it does make life great.Where Did They Come? These are Saved during the Tribulation. These will Serve during the Millennial Reign. What God will Do?Revelation 7:15 KJV 1900 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.God will Dwell Among Them:This literally means “God shall spread His tabernacle over them.”God, in the Old Testament, spread His tabernacle over the tent in the wilderness, which thus became the center and rest of the thousands of Israelites.Remember, God covered them in the desert. They were sheltered from the scorching heat and the coldness of the night by the canopy in the form of a cloud over them.Isaiah 4:5 KJV 1900 5 And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, And upon her assemblies, A cloud and smoke by day, And the shining of a flaming fire by night: For upon all the glory shall be a defence. This became the nations glory and defense when pharaoh’s army was pursing them at the Red Sea the cloud went before the Egyptians and behind the Israelites as they safely crossed the Red Sea on dry ground. In the eternal state during this church age and in the new heavens, the tabernacle of God is with men; in the millennial times God’s tabernacle will be over them. This will produce a amazing sense of security.God will Defend Them:Revelation 7:16 KJV 1900 16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.During the reign of the Antichrist no one will be able to buy or sell without having on himself the mark of the beast; those who receive that mark can not be saved.Having refused to receive the mark of the beast, will be forced to hide out under the heat of the sun by day and the stars by night just as the Israelites did in the wilderness awaiting the opportunity to enter the Promised land. They will be hungry, destitute of food because they will be forced to beg or steal. However, God’s tabernacle will be spread over them. What a picture of peace, joy, and quietness during a time of judgment, wrath, and turmoil. They will endure terrible tribulation, but it will be worth it all when they see the face of Jesus Christ.Isaiah 49:10 KJV 1900 10 They shall not hunger nor thirst; Neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: For he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, Even by the springs of water shall he guide them. But notice, not only will God Defend them butEzekiel 34:23 KJV 1900 23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. The Lamb will Direct Them:Revelation 7:17 KJV 1900 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.Jesus took this title and position in John 10:11John 10:11 KJV 1900 11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. The author of Hebrews speaks of Jesus asHebrews 13:20 KJV 1900 20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,During this time of tribulation, the shepherd, Jesus Christ, the Lamb slain, will provide food for these saints. He will tend to them while the Antichrist seeks to destroy them. He will care for them and preserve them all while guiding them all the way to His throne in Heaven. The concluding statement in this chapter is Rev 7:17Revelation 7:17 KJV 1900 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.God with tender comfort and care will wipe away their tears. If God wipes away the tears they will never weep again. Think about it.Everlasting consolation is the happy and assured portion of these martyred saints as the faithfully, continually serve God, day and night for a 1,000 years.I know, I am near our time of ending this service, but I don’t want us to miss a part that we skipped over that should now make a lot more sense. Let’s go back to Rev 7:11-12Revelation 7:11–12 KJV 1900 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,The Angels:These angels, standing before the throne of God, before the church, represented by the elders, and the four beasts is a picture of a series of great concentric circles of the inhabitants of heaven. On the outer ring stand all the angels, nearer the throne are the 24 elders, and still nearer are the four living creatures and before the throne are the white robed martyrs. In chapter 6, with the 5th seal we saw martyrs under the throne but these martyrs are before the throne. These martyrs have just sung their shout of praise to God for salvationRevelation 7:10 KJV 1900 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.and the angels join in with a song of their own. They begin by falling on their faces, a position of humility and respect and they begin to “worship God”.Notice this worship begins withRevelation 7:12 KJV 1900 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.Amen = a word of strong affirmation of the truth of the martyrs praise of Salvation to the Lamb. They are in full agreement with the martyrs. However, there praise is to God praising Him for His attributes and goodness, but not for salvation. These angels are sinless creatures not redeemed sinners. These are unfallen angels, holy angels, that have never known the joy of experiencing salvation.Their song of worship is a seven-fold doxology and ascription of worship. If you are truly worshipping God, then these should be your foundation.Blessing to God for His goodness and kindness in creation and in redemption and in providence to all that He has created. God’s creation must forever be a blessing to its creator.Glory to God = God is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He must be given glory. Never forget the Majesty of God. God is our Creator, God is love, but that love must never be cheaply sentimentalized, for to God must be given the adoration and the glory which are His by right.Wisdom to God = God is the giver of all knowledge. If men seek wisdom, they can only find it in two paths; by seeking of their minds, and by waiting upon God- both are equally important. To find wisdom there must be a determination to seek, and there must be time to listen and wait.Thanksgiving to God = God is the giver of salvation and the constant provider of grace. He is the creator of the world and the constant provider of all that is in the world.Psalm 103:2 KJV 1900 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits:Never be guilty of the ugliest and most graceless sin of ingratitude.Honor to God = God is God, and, therefore God is to be worshipped. Instead of asking things from God, we need to offer ourselves and all we have to Him. We must give Him Honor.Power to God = God’s arm is never shortened and His power never grows less. That power is directed through His love toward man. There is no helplessness in God. God works his purpose out throughout the ages, and in the end His will be done, and His kingdom will come.and lastlyStrength to God = we are constantly looking for strength in life, strength for the task of life, strength for the responsibilities of life, strength for the demands of life. That strength is found in God, all strength and stamina comes from Him.Revelation 7:12 KJV 1900 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.Do you know Jesus Christ as your personal savior? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you serving Him?Revelation 6:17NIV
