    Revelation 12 revealed Satan’s age long conflict with Christ and Israel.
    Revelation 13 tells of the methods Satan uses to further his plans.
    Revelation 13 does not develop the chronological order of the book, but rather continues this interlude, parenthetical that began in 11:15 and will go until 15:8, about the methods of Satan not a timeline of Satan.
    This additional information is given to help us better understand the events of the last half of tribulation.
    In this chapter, we are going to experience an unholy trinity.
    Just as God is one God manifested in 3 persons, The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Satan has his trinity also.
    Comparison of the Two Triads

    • Guides, comforts, and glorifies Christ (John 16:14). • Empowers believers through divine signs and truth.
    The Beast from the Earth (The False Prophet)
    • Religious/propagandist leader. • Imitates the Spirit by performing false signs, breathing life into the Antichrist's image, and forcing allegiance.
    Today, we will discover Satan’s last and greatest effort to deceive the people on earth and establish his own kingdom.
    Today is not a pleasant message, but rather an important message. We will see and experience the 2 worst rebels in all of history as they come on to the scene.
    Both of these are called “beasts” because of the cruelty of their reign. The earth has become a great battleground of satanic operation.
    Satan will give these 2 beasts all of his power and authority.
    Notice first of all,

    The Manifestation of the Beast - The Antichrist.

    1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
    In this vision, John takes his place upon the sand of the sea. In Gen 22:17

    17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
    John is standing on the sand of the sea representing the vast multitudes of people.
    In Rev 20:8 God’s army is referred to

    8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

    The Beast’s Appearing:

    “a beast rise up out of the sea”
    While the sand pictures the countless masses of mankind, the sea shows unrest and turmoil as the waves roll in and out.

    12 Woe to the multitude of many people, Which make a noise like the noise of the seas; And to the rushing of nations, That make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
    Isa 57:20 also describes wicked mankind

    20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, When it cannot rest, Whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
    Later, the sea and waters are interpreted for John
    Revelation 17:15 KJV 1900
    15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
    “A beast” = singular
    “having seven heads and ten horns” plural.
    Remember, all of this is given to Daniel.
    In Daniel 2, Nebuchadnezzar sees a great statue
    Beginning with a head of gold representing Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonian Empire, and ending with an empire of iron, finally mixed with clay, and smitten by a stone cut out without hands, which in turn, after consuming the kingdoms of earth, filled thewhole earth as a kingdom set up by God, a kingdom that will never be destroyed.
    The living stone is Jesus Christ and the Kingdom will reign for 1,000 years.
    The Roman Empire was the incarnation of evil and satanic power against both Israel and the Church.
    Again, in Daniel 7, “four great beasts came up from the sea…” These four beasts again represent earthly kingdoms, Gentile powers, against God and His people.
    A little bit of history, Rome fell in AD 476. Since that time, she has been an insignificant power, but she will rise again to become a world power under the leadership of the Antichrist after the rapture.
    As Christians, let me remind you of something very serious that is taught in the New Testament.
    We are not looking for a revived Rome or for the Antichrist. As Christians and the church, we are only commanded to be looking for THE CHRIST.
    However, the Antichrist will very briefly bring the Roman empire back together with power for a very short time.

    1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

    7 Heads and 10 Horns:

    Daniel 7:24 KJV 1900
    24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
    again, Rev 17:12

    12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
    This will be Satan’s one world government that will essentially last 1 hour.
    So, if the Horns are kings, what are the heads?

    9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

    18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
    The seat of government or authority will be connected with a city of seven hills or mountains.
    Again, Rome is traditionally called the city of seven hills.
    Daniel 7:23–25 KJV 1900
    23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. 24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
    Let me give you 7 things that we do know from scripture about this first beast - the Antichrist.
    He has power, a throne, and supreme authority.
    He has authority over nations, tongues and people.
    He will be a political world dictator (coming of the sea of humanity).
    He is a cruel leader, leading with fear and terror.
    He reign will last approximately 7 years with the last 3 1/2 or 42 months with full terror and destruction of Israel.
    He will align with 10 kings with himself being the top executive.
    He is a world blasphemer.

    10 Crowns of Blasphemy:

    1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
    The crowns represent ruling authority. The name on the crown, blasphemy.
    Blasphemy here is more than a failure to believe in God, but is active and open in his opposition and hatred of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
    2 ways this will be accomplished is
    Making himself equal to God and usurping God’s place, dwelling among the people. 2 Thess 2:4

    4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
    2. The Antichrist will blaspheme God by slandering and taking God’s name in vain.

    36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
    “till the indignation be accomplish” shows this ruling is again temporary until God acts in judgment. This will happen when Christ returns to earth to accept his rightful role and position of King of kings and Lord of lords. At this point, the Antichrist along with the False Prophet, the 2nd beast that we will study next week will be cast in the Lake of Fire.

    The Beast’s Appearance:

    This is the same beasts mentioned in Daniel 7:4

    4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.

    5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

    6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
    The only difference between these are the order they are being presented.
    Daniel 7, Daniel sees them progressing in the future from Babylon, Medes and Persia, Greece. However, John sees them lookng backwards to their already being fulfilled. Each beast and kingdom had a part of the characteristics of the previous but became less power. However, now in Rev 13, we find all of their characteristics and elements contained in the the Beast from the Sea, the Antichrist.
    If you study history, you will discover the Antichrist will have the swiftness of the leopard as portrayed in how quick through Alexander the Great Greece rose to power.
    He will have the tenacity of purpose and brutality of a bear portrayed in the the brutality of the Medies and the Persians when overcoming Babylon.
    Lastly, the autocratic and majestic power of a lion in reference to Babylon.
    All of these will be present in the Antichrist with one additional tremendous force, Satan, the Great Red Dragon we saw in chapter 12.

    The Beast’s Authority:

    2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
    Satan gives the Antichrist his seat or throne - his position to exercise his authority. Man gave Satan that authority over this world in the Garden, however, Jesus Christ will take it back.
    The Antichrist will be just like his father.

    44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

    The Miraculous Resurrection of the Beast.

    3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

    The Wounding of the Beast:

    The world rejected the resurrection of Jesus. It will believe the resurrection of Satan!

    The Wonder of the Beast:

    Wonder = to marvel, to be astonished, amazed, fulled with total admiration.
    The world will wonder at a human

    The Worship of the Beast:

    Revelation 13:4 KJV 1900
    4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
    They refused to worship the real Christ, but they will devote all to the false one. (Ill. Heaven is still rejoicing over Satan’s defeat, 12:10, but the earth dwellers are worshipping Him.)

    The Mocking from the Beast:

    6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

    7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

    Persecution of the Saints:

    Satan cannot harm the glorified saints, but he can destroy those who are not specially sealed on the earth. He will use all the tortures of the ages to attempt his extermination of God’s people!

    Power over the World:

    He will not be satisfied until every nation is under his thumb.

    8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

    Prostration from the World:

    The peoples of the world who are not saved, will bow the knee before the Antichrist and worship him.

    9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
    Wake up! Kentucky.
    Wake up! Saline County.
    Wake up! Arkansas.
    Wake up! America.
    Wake up! World.
    Pay attention! Be discerning and watchful!
    Our time is short! Now is not the time to rest and slumber.
    Revelation 13:10 KJV 1900
    10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
    God gives us a reminder: Vengeance is His; He will repay.
    This is the patience of the saints! We are on the side of the victorious! God has won, Satan is defeated. Let there be rejoicing in the hearts of the Lord’s people!
    We are to wait, be patient, endure the evil and wickedness of Satan and his foes. Hang on to the FAITH! One day, I believe very soon, we will stand with God, we will sing with Him and to Him and we will be fully completely satisfied in His presence!
    I am so glad when it gets this bad, that I will be in the presence of Jesus Christ in Heaven. You can assure your position there also today. If you will believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and confess Him as Lord of your life.
