We enter March with great anticipation and excitement. The time change will come, Spring Break begins, and new life buds all around us. The potential for this year begins to come into focus. In our daily life as many factors divide us as a society, we could certainly use some common to stand together on. It is no accident that solid ground is realistically and metaphorically needed for foundational issues. Our March into Matthew will set the tone for the foundation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
Matthew was written to instruct and inform Jews of the goal of Christ as ultimately He would reach Calvary's cross for the atonement of man's sin. While it's directive towards a Jewish audience is undisputed, it has proven invaluable for the foundational teachings to all followers since the first century church.
Matthew has extensive narrative value as a guiding text for the newest disciple of Christ. It is filled with discourse that challenged the Jewish temperament of the days in which it was written and all who have followed Christ since.
I would encourage all to read through the book of Matthew several times. This will saturate your mind as it filters into your heart and manifest itself into your daily lives as a follower of Jesus Christ.
